First off…
Not everyone is a baller like you, Lean, who can drop $250+ on a single kitchen knife. Second, this knife is well made, perfectly balanced, comfortable in hand while using, and sharp beyond expectation. Shun made this blade to be affordable. It beats the heck out of Wusthof and Henkel at the price point, and with a VG-10 edge, it will last longer. I own the Calphalon VG10 Katana series blades, and so far I personally believe these Sora’s are better because they are not as heavy and seem to be sharper after a months worth of constant wear. I bought 5, 5 Shun Sora knives on sale for the price of your 1 knife you love so much, Lean. If that isn’t amazing when discussing quality and quantity, then I guess some people are hard to please. Thank you Shun for making a fantastic and affordable blade like this one, and I hope this review helps others see beyond the words of all of the naysayer haters in the world, and Canada too.

Be careful with this one! It’s razor sharp!
Funny story…first, this is not my first Shun knife, it’s merely my most recent purchase. Well, this Knife does not disappoint. This knife also sent me to the ER for stitches, bc it inadvertently slipped out of one hand and into the other (literally) while Washing it. Didn’t feel a thing until I was at the ER. Anyhow, this knife goes through anything. Fantastic purchase - just be careful when handling and definitely keep it away from small children!

Excellent utility knife
Great utility knife, well balanced with a slightly thicker blade than other Shun cooking knives. Sharp and holds edge quite well.

Worth every dollar....
Extremely sharp out of the box. Great balance and feel in the hand. Handle shape makes it very comfortable and stable to hold. 6 1/2" Master Utility is perfect for smaller utility knife work and some larger (pineapple) jobs too. Cutting raw slabs of pork shoulder (skin on) to rocking/mincing herbs-this knife is smooove.... A friend said this is the only knife I will need and so far......she's right. I'm a kitchen dad and the Sora is in my budget. (Barely in my budget...) I have arthritis in my hands and I need a knife that makes knife work easier. This is definitely it. (I have Henckels and Victorinox/forschners, the Shun is my new go to...)

Let me begin by stating that I rarely write a negative review, and only do so when I feel a product is clearly not value for purchase price. I own a $260 Shun that is a work of art. I assumed that this would have at least a little of that quality for $90.00. This knife looks and feels like a $20.00 dollar knife. I am sure the steel is good, the handle though, literally plastic with a spine seam from the mold. I would have even paid $20.00 more for a G10 handle. Quite surprised they put the Shun name on it, to be honest. This would be a fair deal at $25.00 to $30.00
