## Description

Product Description Air King's BFQ110 from the Air King BFQ High Performance Exhaust Fan Fan series features an unique Snap-In Installation System. The included bracket nails or screws to the ceiling joist allowing the fan Housing to "Snap-In". Connect the wiring and the ducting, install the easy fitting grill and you are done. A bath fan installation can now be done in minutes. The durable high impact plast housing ensures quiet operation and maximum performance. High performance, attractive stylized grill and quick installation make the High Performance Exhaust Fan Series right for the job. UL Listed for installation over a tub or shower on a GFCI circui using 4" round ducting. Motor is HVI certified. Wire nuts and Romex connector are included. 100 CFM at .1SP. Operates at 3.5 Sones (Sones is a broader measure of sound than decibels.) Exhaust capacity 100 - 125 sq. ft. From the Manufacturer What makes the Air King high performance bath fan series unique is the UL listed molded high impact plastic housing that provides multiple benefits. "Traditional" bath fan housings are fabricated from steel which involves bending and welding. This is a more expensive process and over the life of the fan welds can break, causing the fan to operate much louder or even with a rattling sound. Metal housings reverberate and echo noise. Because the Air King high performance bath fan series is in an all plastic housing, there are no welds to break and the plastic is a natural sound absorbent material. If you live anywhere near salt water, or the unit will be used in high moisture areas, this fan is an almost must. The UL listed molded high impact plastic housing will not rust, giving the unit a longer life. The high performance exhaust fan series features a unique snap-in installation system. The 4-Inch plastic duct collar with back draft damper insures quiet operation and prevents drafts from entering the room. Exhaust capacity for rooms of approximately 100 to 125 square feet. Housing size: 9-1/8 inch wide by 8 1/2 inch deep by 4 3/4 inch high. Please note that the installation video on this page vido shows model BFQ90 which looks the same with the same design, features and installation steps. The only difference is the motor size. Quality Air King products are always the right choice!

Review: You Just Can't Beat The Value Of This Fan! - OK....I was somewhat skeptical of the low price for this fan but I took the plunge and bought the 100 CFM model. It arrived today and I installed it today. The installation wasn't easy but not because of the fan. My attic is hot and I had to crawl on the support beams so I wouldn't fall through the drywall. Total time to take out the old crappy unit and install this new fan was about two hours. The fan came with just about everything needed to install it but it does not come with mounting screws. So make sure you have some high quality wood screws before you start this project or use nails. I had to use a 4 inch to 3 inch adapter on this fan but I knew that before purchase so make sure you have the correct exhaust duct size before you climb into your attic. I highly suggest anyone installing bathroom vent fans use the shiny Foil Tape used in HVAC systems. It's cheap and great for connecting the exhaust ducting to the fan exhaust. The foil tape will prevent any leakage from the exhaust duct connection if used correctly. You want to make sure there is ZERO leakage into your attic from any and all bathroom exhaust fans. I replaced my entire roof yesterday because of a leaking bathroom exhaust fan. The fan leaked moisture slowly but surely into the attic and cause a large section to grow mold. You get the picture. After installing the fan I sealed the gaps in the drywall so no air is leaking into or out of the attic from the bathroom below. I used the Foil Tape for this. It worked great. A suggestion for anyone installing this unit: I suggest you connect the exhaust ducting to the exhaust of the fan BEFORE mounting the fan unit on the fan mount. Why? Because the exhaust port if snug against the support beam the mounting bracket is connected to. There is very little room to seal the connection with Foil Tape or anything else if the fan is mounted in it's bracket before connecting the exhaust ducting. Testing the exhaust fan: I turned it on and was surprised that this fan is actually quieter than the fan it replaced (original with house). I used a sound meter and tested the fan noise of this fan: 69 dB. Not bad. The original fan was half the air flow (50 CFM) and it was noisy at 80 dB. Next test was the "smoke test": With the fan running I opened a can of "smoke" two feet below the fan intake. The smoke was sucked in the fan quickly. So all in all this is a great deal to me. It's relatively quiet, pushes 100 CFM (with a 4 inch exhaust duct) and is very inexpensive compared to other brands. What more can you ask for at this price? I'm ordering another one now for the other upstairs bathroom.
Review: great replacement and upgrade - We purchased this Air King fan to replace the fan and motor of our 19 year old fan. Once I cleaned and disassembled our existing fan we realized it was not possible to remove the old housing without making it a drywall and ceiling paint repair job due to the "clip in" feature. So we cleaned out the housing, removed the fan from the new one and used the old screws to install it into our old housing. We also used the new cover as the old one was faded. It works great- and now we can hear just how our old one had really given up. This one sounds stronger and a little louder- not a problem bc it works and was super easy to install.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anybody installed this unit in a pre-existing fan space? if so how easy was it to install and did you have to modify the ceiling very much?**
A: I replaced this fan and air king 50 in my 20 years old appartment bathrooms.Previous fan had same installation braket. Hardest part were remove old one and not damage ceiling, because this braket works only one way in. To get it out you I had to brake old fan case. And another hard part is slide new fan case in opening with exaust pipe in. You have to play with it. It ll be easy if you remove motor and fan blades before installation and after you attached exaust hose check louver inside if it is able to open and close.

**Q: Hi folks, the product descriptions show two different noise level ratings. Was wondering is it rated at .5 sones or 1 sone? Thank you**
A: Hi, I don't know which one is right, because I don't have devices to check it, but I have this one in one bathroom and another one BFQ 70 in the other bathroom, which is rated everywhere 2.5 Sones. And I can say this one is quieter than BFQ 70 and I can barely here him.

**Q: Does this come with everything you need? I am replacing another fan, but am not sure if 3" or 4" ducting was used. I know it is louder with 3".**
A: Yes. The fan comes with all you need (bracket, fan, instalation screws and electrical caps to co nect wires) , but I used old caps and screws. I have 2 fans one cfm 70 in one bathroom and cfm 50 in another one. Both have 4" housing diameter. In one bathroom I had 5 " pipe and I ducttaped it to connected fan and pipe. Both fans are really quiet. Some time is really hard to notice that they work.

**Q: Can the fan be wall mounted?**
A: It could be mounted inside a 2"x6" wall. The fan will not fit in most walls, which are 2"x4" studs. I replaced an Air King 50-CFM fan that was wall mounted, even though I moved the fan to the ceiling. I find the ceiling installation more effective for keeping the moisture moving out during and after a shower.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It Sucks And Blows Hard, Just As It's Meant To
*by X***O on December 18, 2021*

Installed in combination with a Leviton Humidity switch for my finished basement To be frank, it's very plastic and doesnt feel solid and it was pretty noisy and rattly at first, I realized that some of the motor screws were loose, once fixed it fixed the rattle and helped with the noise but it's still too loud, especially compared to the Panasonic Whisper in-line air extractor in my bathroom. But it works and it works well, has made a massive difference in the air quality in the basement and for the price its still a good buy, it's not really for habitable spaces and there's no way I'd put this in my bathroom but other people with little sensitive hearing probably would be indifferent ?
