Review: Perfect nano overflow - Works great in my 35gal aio acro tank
Review: Great quality product with some minor issues - High quality materials used in the construction of this overflow. For me, I would have given 5 stars but I did need to replace the nylon wing nut and bolt that holds the overflow on. I was not able to tighten it enough that I felt comfortable the overflow would not move or fall off. $2.50 at the hardware store gets you a better nylon bolt and wing nut that will tighten without stripping the threads. I would have also liked to have seen two nylon nuts and bolts to hold on the overflow instead of one. With only one, it has the potential to get knocked when doing maintenance or taking lids on or off and the overflow can go crooked and mess up the adjustment. Replacing the nylon nut and bolt as mentioned about will help with this. I would also recommend to the manufacturer to offer some recommended options for how to connect the bulk head in the drain box to plumb to the sump. Overall, I would purchase again. I purchased 2 and they have been running perfectly and have not lost siphon once. Beyond the nylon bolt, I am confident they will last a lifetime.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how does it restart after siphon break due to power outage**
A: It should not break the siphon when the power goes out.  The water level on both sides of the overflow pipe will remain submerged when the water stops flowing, preventing any air to get into the tube, causing the siphon break.  When the power comes on, the system will automatically restart when the water level in the tank exceeds the height of overflow container in the tank.

I've had several outages that did not result in any overflow of the tank.  However, I have had air get into the overflow tube and restrict the amount of water that can move through the pipe causing the tank to overflow.  This was caused by biological growth in the tank side causing air to be pulled into the water, causing air to accumulate in the overflow pipe.  Regular maintenance will prevent this from happening.

**Q: What is the measurement on the outside of the overflow? Widest point from glass to backside of overflow?**
A: From the outside of my aquarium to the outside edge of the overflow device is 3.25"

**Q: What's the flow rate for this what size return pump would you need?**
A: The flow is rated at like 200 gallon per hour. I do have mine set up on a pump that pushes 400 minus some loss for elbow joints and head height.

**Q: do you have to drill a hole in the tank**
A: No holes to drill. Hangs over top of tank.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effectively skims surface water

This overflow box with surface skimmer and siphon tube does a great job pulling surface water from the aquarium to your sump. It moves a lot of water from the aquarium to your sump style filter. Also included is a foam strainer and a bulkhead fitting. Please note that the male thread on the bulkhead fitting that extends beyond and below the overflow box is not npt. Fortunately I was able to find a slip pvc bushing with inner threads so I could connect a barb and flexible hose from the bottom of the overflow box to my lower sump.
