I rinse it and wash it by hand and I’ve never washed it in the dishwasher, however, I use very hot water and even give the grounds a stir after pouring the water in the press. I was grateful to find this replacement filter cap.after I accidentally threw away my original with the grounds one morning and failed to catch my mistake until the next day when thee garbage was long gone.
