On thinner blade’s like small pairing knives it may require moving the bale in the magnet or putting a cutting board under the knife to keep the edge of the blade positioned. For larger knives like chefs out carving it is very easy. It only needs a few strokes on each side of the blade to dress the edge of ask it needs is a touch up. For a dull knife I was done on less than 20 strokes per side. The leather strop works well to finish the blade or to just give a sharp blade a quick dressing.

It is easy to use. It sharpens a knife quickly.
