Review: Beautifully made - I've come to this from a series of Kobo devices. This is still mostly plastic too, but leagues ahead of Kobos in build quality. The Kaleido 3 screen is good - as with other colour ereaders there's a "screen door" visible if you look very closely, but at normal reading distance it is not perceptible. The front light is clear and even, which is important because due to Kaleido 3 being quite dark you have to use the front light most of the time. The ereader software is merely OK. It is easy to add new fonts (easier than Kobo) but it is a bit buggy unless you use epub 3. There are updates coming in late 2024 that will improve the software significantly, judging from the screenshots. The built-in text-to-speech is great! The only downside: it is not possible to buy it (or any accessories like cases) directly in the UK unless you import it from someone on desertcart Marketplace. Please fix this, Pocketbook.

I've come to this from a series of Kobo devices. This is still mostly plastic too, but leagues ahead of Kobos in build quality. The Kaleido 3 screen is good - as with other colour ereaders there's a "screen door" visible if you look very closely, but at normal reading distance it is not perceptible. The front light is clear and even, which is important because due to Kaleido 3 being quite dark you have to use the front light most of the time. The ereader software is merely OK. It is easy to add new fonts (easier than Kobo) but it is a bit buggy unless you use epub 3. There are updates coming in late 2024 that will improve the software significantly, judging from the screenshots. The built-in text-to-speech is great! The only downside: it is not possible to buy it (or any accessories like cases) directly in the UK unless you import it from someone on Amazon Marketplace. Please fix this, Pocketbook.
