pro elec 5 m 8 Way 8 Gang Surge Protected Switched Neon Extension Lead - Black

I was absolutely up to my neck in half working 4 gang electrical sockets with doubles stuck in for good measure. I bought this one to tidy up the place a little bit and provide that extra protection from power surges, having regular brown outs for a few seconds here and there quite frequently nowadays. It was actually a pleasure to rip out the old ones and replace them with this tidy little number. Each socket has it's own independant rocker switch and the 5 meters of cable allowed me to hide it out of the way on top of a cupboard so I don't even know it exists any more. I have loads of spare plugs now too without having to worry about using one of those dreaded cubes that make you fear for your electrical safely. This is cheap at twice the price, all of the sockets work perfectly unlike those generic white 4 gangs you get where inevitably one of the sockets fails or is a bit temperamental when it feels left out. the sockets are suitably spaced and most adapters will fit in, however I find it frustrating that all of the sockets have the single pin facing inwards, so those adapters that have the bulk towards that pin won't fit in unless you decide to block the power socket it covers. Having all of the sockets the same way around would have been much better - so the single pin was facing north and not always into the socket. That way you would have 4 sockets for those adapters that our innies and 4 sockets for adapters that are outies. Hey, this is a minor grumble for something that has made my cable clutter problem vanish in 30 minutes so I am very pleased. Overall, the long cable, the not in your face colour scheme, the handy power switches and the surge protection all make this a great little replacement for your horrible white 4 gang nightmares. The only downside is the orientation of some of the sockets but that is a minor issue when you realise you are getting all of this for a real bargain price.

Well made, good materials and the power switches have lights on so you can see which ones are turned on if there isnt direct light/dimly lit area

Needed an extension lead that i could turn off each appliance and this does the trick

It's got a good length of cable allowing this to be placed across a typical British house room. Individual switches for each socket. I can leave 8 items neatly plugged into this one adaptor block, the individual switches mean that I can isolate each of those 8 items and prevent them from drawing "phantom power" when not in use. However, it is important to understand, this item works best with low power devices. Lamps, USB chargers etc. It will NOT support 8 heavy power devices such as kitchen appliances, fires, heaters, tumble dryers, cookers, microwaves. These will ALL risk overloading this item.
