**Q: are the pads removable if I want just a smooth surface?**
A: I would imagine you could remove them but they are glued on.

**Q: Does my 15inch MacBook Pro gonna fit here on this tray?**
A: I velcro my 15 in. Laptop to it.  Used it onstage for a couple of years now.  Threads stripped pretty quickly, be careful.

**Q: I have a monitor stand already. Can I use this part as a replacement for my existing platform?**
A: Its only attachment to anything is a mic stand.  If your stand has that threading, then yes.  The platform itself looks exactly like the one On Stage uses for their stand package.
