Yes, it does smell smoky and probably if I used it by itself, it would smell like I spent the day in the smoking section of a casino, but I use the leave-in, cream, oil method on my wash days so the leave-in ( like Mane Choice Tropical Moringa or Curls Blueberry Bliss) as well as the cream (like Cream if Nature Moisture and Shine Curl Activator Creme) all smell pleasant which masks the smokiness plus.I only use a little to seal my other products in. The main thing is the results. Like a lot of people, I am using this time in quarantine to glow up. So, I've been wearing protective, yet cute flat twists. When I started my hair journey, I already had grown my hair out some but I was soooo lazy about taking care of it. On wash days, I was pulling out handfuls of hair. Once I started taking care of my hair and adding thus black castor oil to my LCO lineup, my hair took off. My hair was just below my bra band. As of yesterday, the longest part is approaching the top of my waist. For those of you who are black with textured hair, I would guess my natural hair is probably 4A, 4B, and 3C in parts. I am not great with that hair typing system y'all. I look at one natural hair influencer's videos who says she is one hair type and I say that's me. Then I look at another who says she is a different type and her hair looks like mine too. I will say that I am transitioning out of a texturizer so I can only judge my roots. I only know that my hair is high porosity and loves moisture. This stuff does wonders for holding moisture in natural and chemically treated hair.

This rosemary oil has been an incredible addition to my hair and scalp routine. It smells amazing—fresh and herbaceous without being overpowering—and feels invigorating when massaged into the scalp. Clean Ingredients!!!

Just started using it and it feels good on my scalp. It’s not very heavy so I can leave it in longer and it washed out easily. Made my scalp feel good. Will take a while to see the results but so far so good. I like that all three ingredients are organic so I know it’s a super clean formula. Also I know it has a lot of rosemary, which I like to use on my scalp and hair, because there are literally only 3 ingredients and it smells really good — like fresh rosemary. Update: I’ve now been using this oil twice a week (sometimes more) for over a month and I love it! I either use it at night before bed or an hour or two before I shampoo. Sometimes I’ll even work a few drops in after I wash my hair — I can’t use too much because my hair is thin. I use a scalp brush to really work it in and my scalp feels so good. Plus it smells like a spa treatment. I’m definitely less itchy and flakey and my hair is really soft and shiny now. I’m so glad I found this product. The formula is definitely a lot cleaner than some other options. It’s just rosemary, macadamia and jojoba oils, and they’re all organic which is important to me.

I’ve been using black castor oil my whole life ( I’m Haitian) and got my oil straight from haiti. My boyfriend is Jamaican and I’ve gotten black castor oil from Jamaica as well( very similar to Haitian castor oil, but I feel like Haitian black castor oil works better but I might be bias 😂 ). Here’s my issues I know it says “lightly roasted” on the bottle and I’m not sure if that’s what causing the differences but, the color is much lighter than any black castor oil I’ve ever used. The color difference looks more noticeable in person compared to the picture. The thickness is off , the smell (which is suppose to smell) is slightly different not as Smokey and earthy and it’s more burnt smelling and the aroma isn’t as strong (it’s hard to explain unless you’ve smelled them both) , I tried it out and it’s not as moisturizing , it sits on the skin and hair longer and doesn’t ever seem to absorb all the way. Castor oil is thick and even after its absorbed it leaves a shine but this one sort of just feels greasy even after 24 hours on my scalp. I do believe it’s 100% castor oil BUT my conspiracy theory is that it is low quality poorly roasted black castor oil mixed with plain cold press castor oil. I’ll use it to mix with other oils but wouldn’t use it on its own

Wow. This hair oil smells amazing. As you would expect it is oily, given it is oil :-). I use it on my scalp the night before I wash my hair and it has made a huge difference in the texture of my hair. Instead of feeling dry and brittle, it has become soft and supple. I haven’t used it for long enough yet to say if it has improved some areas of thinning. But just for the improvement in my hair health it is been worth the buy.

Great product nice and thick, absorbs and lubrication better when you mix it with another carrier oil.
