Purchased for a replacement in my CCTV swann system, for the price paid I was able to double my storage too from 2TB to 4TB. The transfer from broken orginal system HDD was really easy took no more than 10min once attached and formated it began recording straight away. Happy with the drive and cost I paid for 4TB

I bought these as I was building a home server/nas and wanted a raid 5 setup (min 3 drives) and they were going into a Jonsbo N1 case which is really small and doesn't have really the best airflow through the drives ( If you look at the pic the highest temp drives are directly behind the fan hub ). These drives however are designed to run constant and hotter than most (upper limit is I believe 70 degrees), they're not the fastest drives but as I'm using these for serving Movies, Music and TV Shows And running Home Assistant i just wanted the reliability. I'm running them via OMV6 in low power and low acoustic mode (I have no idea whether these drives support this but they are virtually silent and the server sits approx 2ft away from me in my office) These came in sealed WD branded boxes in bubble wrap with silica desiccant and all checked out with 0 hrs power on time and no bad sectors etc (Brand New )... ( I got caught out buying from China and received a drive with a 2023 label but over 5 YEARS of runtime !!! ) Will be purchasing 2 more very shortly to replace my other old drives. Recommended.

I really wanted to like this 2TB Western Digital hard drive, but it’s been nothing but trouble from the start. Within just a few hours of use (only 55 hours on record, according to my diagnostic tool), the drive’s health is already flagged as "Bad." For something that’s supposed to be brand new, this is beyond frustrating. When it arrived, the packaging seemed a bit... underwhelming. It didn’t feel like there was enough protection to keep something as sensitive as a hard drive safe during shipping. It makes me wonder if it got damaged in transit—maybe from careless drivers or rough handling at the warehouse. After running a health check, I found critical issues like a sky-high Read Error Rate and Reallocated Sectors Count, which are clear signs that this drive isn’t going to last. Honestly, I’m shocked this even made it past quality control. Whether the problem is poor product quality or bad handling during delivery, this drive has completely failed to meet my expectations. I wouldn’t trust it for storing anything important. Save yourself the headache and look for a better option..

I always use this hard drive, and it has proven to be extremely reliable over time. I’ve installed many of them, and faulty units are incredibly rare. The performance is consistent, making it a dependable choice for various needs. If you’re looking for a hard drive that delivers reliability and peace of mind, this one is an excellent option!

These are really expensive now. Storage capacity is quite good value for money not so much but they are one of the best so very durable.

I have used these drives for over 10 years without issue. The existing one was 7 years old which is approaching the reliability end of life for this drive type although nothing was wrong. The first drive I had to send back as faulty but this was not the companies fault as although the packaging was marked fragile it didn’t have an adequate amount of packaging protection and the Royal Mail postman posted the item through my letterbox so it was probably the fall that damaged the delicate rotor arm.
