Solution to my intermittent check engine light.
Application: 2010 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport DCSB I want to first point out that while this is an OEM product and arrived in a legitimate Toyota parts packaging, there are some subtle differences to the text on the cap. I’ve included some pictures (old OE cap on right and new on left) so you can see the texts differences. No big deal - doesn’t impact functionality but I’m a stickler for details so it is worthy of pointing out. As for my problem: I noticed about a year ago that my gas cap was not always giving me the “1-click” when I finished at the pump. I’d have to try several times before I felt like the cap was on correctly. A quick search on a Tacoma forum indicated that this is a common problem for owners. As time went on, I would get sporadic check engine lights. The codes were not always consistent with an EVAP leak or something that would point to the gas cap but resetting the ECU (disconnecting the battery to clear codes) and tightening the gas cap would keep the check engine light at bay for a few more weeks. Eventually, I decided to look up the OE gas cap part which brought me here and when I saw how cheap it was, decided to purchase. There are several off brand alternatives here on Amazon when you search the part number. They are cheaper but OE quality is worth an extra $3-4 dollars in my opinion. Install is a breeze. Grab some pliers if your old cap still has the tether in tact and yank it off the fuel door. Press fit the new tether in place and you’re ready to go. I’ve been check engine light free for several weeks now. The “1-click” is back and the difference was noticeable right away. Even comparing the old cap to the new one, it was easy to see how ineffective the rubber gasket had become. TLDR: Quality product that serves a basic function but could also save you a ton of hassle if you’re not mechanically inclined and your Toyota is throwing a check engine light pointing to a leaky gas cap.

Fits a 2007 Toyota Sienna XLE
This Toyota gas cap fits a 2007 Toyota Sienna XLE without any problems. It looks like a Toyota brand gas cap, but I have never be 100% sure. It works like the old cracked cap. Easy to install, just watch a video online if you have any questions or concerns removing and install this.

2013 Highlander gas cap
Has same part number as the oem part at the dealer but not the same. Horrible. It does not click one time when tighten. The white plastic behind the rubber seal does not match the oem from dealer which has cuts angle edges and holes; it was just straight solid plastic with no cuts. Slap it on and check engine came on 2 days later. Had to order one from dealer and it match the original.

Close as it gets to being better than Oem. Fit was exceptional on my 08 tundra

It worked fine (What can I say? - it's a Toyota OEM part). I didn't really need it (although the original on my 2008 Rav4 was a little beat up). I shot from the hip when the engine light came on because the gas cap is a common cause and because the engine light coincidentally went out after I vaselined the old gas cap O-ring - which misled me. When replacing the gas cap didn't work I shelled out for a Bluedriver OBDII device (CAD $99 from Amazon) which worked magnificently. Diagnosis: flaky Nbr 4 ignition coil. Replaced it and all is well.
