Castor oil, as far as I know, is good for any kind of hair, regardless of color.

Is it supposed to smell like car oil?

This isn't the one I purchased. Castor oil doesn't have a great smell though. It is just fantastic for your hair.

Yes...I don't see why not. But you may not want to because it is very oily on its on. It holds a long time too. It really makes your hair soft.
