We had a similar fuel gauge before with a paper strip with gallon measurements on it but the paper moved inside the tube and if you didn't check, it would not give you accurate measures when dipping the tanks. This one is permanently marked on the thick walled resin which has a very nice clear window to it. My husband loves that it is more robust than the prior gauge which we have since thrown in the trash! So glad I found this one on Amazon. We have a Piper Cherokee PA-28 140. 17 gallons at the tabs!

The only time a pilot has too much fuel is when he is on fire! And the truth is that there are still off airport landing and crashes because of fuel starvation! There is no real excuse for that, and so this fuel gauge eliminates the guess work of how much actual fuel there is left in the tank before take off.
