    Killer Rock and Roll

*by R***L on May 29, 2012*

I've followed Charm City Devils vocalist John Allen and guitarist Nick Kay since their Child's Play days, so being a CCD fan has always seemed like a natural extention of that. But put my personal Baltimore/hometown bias aside, this is one killer cd! I've introduced several friends who never listened to CCD to them via this sophomore release, and now they're fans.Powerful, jet propelled, well crafted, straight up rock and roll is what you're gonna get from this. There's even a ballad included for us ladies, sure to make ya swoon. John, Nick, Victor, Jason, and Anthony have been making great music for a long time, in various incarnations, and the experience shows. As does the "band of brothers" vibe that exists with their relationships with each other. I tell ya, this has been my most played CD since I downloaded it on April 10th (even more than the new Slash and Halestorm), and as a result I can't get any of the songs outta my head, lol. One listen, and neither will you.So do yourself a favor - if you're a true rock and roll fan, go buy this now. Yep, I said now! Even better, go see the Charm City Devils boyz live for one hell of a good time!! (check [...] for tour dates - they're currently on the road through the summer)

    Better and better

I bought this one for the song Man of Constant Sorrow and was blown away by the rest of it. My other two fav's are Unstoppable and Devil is a Woman. The whole thing rocks and they do harken back to 80's metal and I don't care what anybody says that is a good thing. They would have fit right in that era and it is oh so nice to have some of that back again. I am personally tired of the angsty whining that passes for music and these guys deliver the goods. When I want to bang my head I just want to bang my head, not have to listen to somebody pushing their crybaby agenda. These guys are talented and the lead singer has a metal voice and knows how to use it. I hope they are planning on being around for a long time as they have the talent to get there. I am hooked for life and I can't say enough good things about these guys. So if you have not got either one of their albums get busy and buy them, you will not be sorry you did.

    Killer rock album

The second album by Charm City Devils has a more polished sound than their first but contains the same high energy and catchy hooks. The faster songs have a definite AC/DC nod to them - Love N War has undertones of Let There Be Rock - while the ballads lean towards a more high powered Bon Jovi. All of the songs here are winners, from the opener Spite, which has a riff Slash would be proud of, to the closer Doorstep which gets stuck in your head. These guys deserve more recognition than they currently get, and hopefully this album, especially with the backing the excellent Unstoppable is getting, will give it to them. If you love great rock n roll, founded on Aerosmith and old school Kiss but with a modern edge, this is an album for you.
