Orange does not refer to the flavor. I bought this tea after hiking the tea plantations in Sri Lanka and tasting the different grades. This one tests very good and full flavored to me. We were told that the larger the leaf, the better, which is why you buy loose leaf tea. Tea bags have a lot of tiny pieces. **Q: Can this be used for kombuca? Is it flavored? Does it contain caffine?** A: Yes, it can be used for kombucha. No, it isn’t flavored. Yes, it contains caffeine. For kombucha, avoid Earl Grey because it has bergamot oil in it, which can harm the bacteria. Avoid any other teas with flavoring for the same reason. **Q: What is the date of the manufacture on the tea?** A: I usually order more of this tea before I run out, so I usually have a full box on hand before I use up the currently open box. It looks like the last time I ordered any was in December 2018. The date range on that box is 5/3/2019-5/3/2022. So the last box I got was dated (had an expiration date) of several months (to several months and 3 years, if that can be believed) later. **Q: Is the opa (considered) better than the regular Ceylon or just different? How so?** A: OPA is large leaf Ceylon tea, the regular consists of smaller cut leaf. If you want stronger, just add more when steeping. I love the quality and mild aroma. Texture is great, appearance is great, and it was very fresh. This Ceylon OPA both really impressed me with its quality and provided a new tea drinking experience. OPA is the largest leaf size available from Shri Lanka and probably from most places most of the time. The dry leaf is HUGE, so big that 1 lbs of this tea doesn’t even fit in the Ahmad 1 lbs tins. This is possibly the largest leafed black tea I’ve had. The only thing close was a Keemun Mao fang, appropriate since some aspects of this tea, such as the fruity dry leaf scent, reminded me of Keemun.Ahmad says this brews a tea of light colour and flavour but that is only true for short steeps. Due to the large leaf the tea infuses rather slowly so I really recommend a longer steep. I like 6-9 minutes and this produces a dark, richly aromatic brew. The aroma is complex, fruity and somewhat malty. Dried fruit, particularly raisins, combined with a certain roastedness.Taken straight, the flavour is fruity, rich, and moderately strong. Although lighter than an Assam, the tea has a certain intensity to it. There is a pleasing light astringency and something of a tang in the finish, but overall the tea is quite smooth. It takes milk well, but not too much mind, resulting in a rich and velvety cuppa. I don’t usually sweeten Ceylon but I found this one took sugar remarkably well with milk. It also makes outstandingly refreshing cold brew iced tea.Overall I love this tea and always feel good after drinking it. That is true for me and most teas but it seemed particularly so with this one for some reason.
