Will continue to repurchase
I love this Vitamin C! It performs as well as more expensive vitamin C serums, its such great quality. I haven't had any issue with premature oxidization. It smells a little bacon-y but I know that is from the ferulic acid which is helping with efficacy. My skin looks brighter, less dull, and feels great. It's a watery texture so its a little weird to apply but still easy. I would definitely recommend this Vitamin C Serum to anyone looking for a good morning serum.

Best product EVER
This is the single most incredible skin care product i’ve ever tried. After a single use i could notice a difference in my skin! If you’re thinking it’s worth it, let this be your sign that YES absolutely. I will say it has a bit of a smell. I describe it as more of a herbal medicinal smell but hot dog water is weirdly accurate as well. But i think is well worth it. Everyone that knows me has made a comment about how nice my skin looks.

Did the original formula change?
I rarely write reviews, but I wanted to share my thoughts on this product. I originally purchased this product from the brand’s website when it first launched, and loved it so much that I bought it several more times, including from Target etc. I eventually took a break to try something else, but decided to come back to this Vitamin C serum because it was gentle on my skin and showed good results. However, I’ve noticed a big difference in this current formulation. The product is much thinner and more watery than the original version—so much so that I initially thought my bottle had spoiled. At my initial pump, a large amount squirted out like water, and I even tried shaking the bottle to see if the serum would thicken. I also noticed the bottle is smaller than what i've purchased in the past. I can’t say for certain if the formula has changed, but the consistency is significantly different. This might actually work better if the product came in a spray bottle instead, for easy application. That said, the original formula was one of the best Vitamin C serums I’ve ever used, so I’m still willing to give this new version a try :)

Gentle and Effective Vitamin C, Tricky Pump Design
Prequel's Skin Lucent-C serum has been a great addition to my morning skincare routine. My skin tolerates it very well with no irritation. The texture is thin and light, so it layers very nicely under moisturizer or sunscreen without pilling. I’ve noticed my skin looks smoother and a bit firmer after regular use. I’m giving it four stars mainly because of the packaging and scent. Even a tiny press on the pump releases too much product, and the smell isn’t great. The smell does fade quickly after applying, but it’s not pleasant. Still, the formula itself is impressive, with L-ascorbic acid, ferulic acid, and niacinamide working together to brighten and even out my skin tone. I will put up with the smell because it's such a great product. If you’re looking for a gentle yet effective Vitamin C serum that delivers glow without irritation, this one is definitely worth trying. Just go easy on the pump. Also, when you are trying a Vitamin serum for the first time, start off using it 2-3 times a week to see how your skin reacts before using on a daily basis. :)

Happy skincare routine
This is my second vitamin c skincare product and I’m glad to say I won’t be switching to another one. Before, I tried a Korean vitamin c cream but didn’t notice any effect from it whatsoever. Prequel has brought me the nicer-quality serum that I need. I love that Dr. Sam Ellis makes this important skincare staple both approachable and affordable. It’s very liquidy so it took me a few tries to get the hang of application. I tried pumping several drops directly onto my face like some people do—but I have sensory issues and dislike that feeling. What I do is make a “cup” with the palm of my hand and pump 1-2 pumps of product into it so it pools. I dip my ring finger to get some of the serum and then apply it in large “dots” onto my forehead, then repeat the finger/dot method for my cheeks, chin, neck and nose. Then I use my fingers to collect remaining product from my palm and use them to rub in all of the “dots” evenly. I have dry skin. In my experience this serum is not sticky or tacky after applied. It feels smooth, plump and nice. The smell is a bit strange but I don’t mind it and it goes away after a few minutes. I usually wait 2-5 mins before applying my moisturizer and sunscreen to let it soak in. I will say you should apply this to bare skin always. I accidentally applied it over some leftover self-tanner lotion on my face and it was extremely itchy and uncomfortable all day. Use it as the first step for daily routine and you’ll be good to go.

Prequel brand is quality skincare
I like several of the products from Prequel (Dr. Sam Ellis). I've been using Vitamin C for decades now (in my 50s but skincare obsessed since I was 19) and C,E Ferulic serums for several years. Unlike the last brand I used (which worked well, too), this one does NOT smell like "hot dog water" (Angie from Hot and Flashy quote). I think that Vitamin C helps with skin protection for sure. I've gotten compliments for years about having beautiful skin and I really think the early, consistent use of Vitamin C definitely is a big reason for that. The packaging is really good on this (dark, heavy-feeling bottle) and it pumps out easily. As with all Vitamin C serums I've used, it is pure liquid, so it soaks in quickly. I'm a Subscribe and Save purchaser of this product, so I definitely believe it a good, effective C, E Ferulic serum.

Decent product, AWFUL packaging
The product itself seems to be a decent vitamin C serum, and the price is great. But as others have said, the packaging is TERRIBLE. The pump dispenses a giant amount even with the slightest pressure, and so much product is wasted. It also leaks like crazy, which is super annoying. I want to like this product, but unfortunately the packaging makes it a waste of money and such a mess.

Seems to work quite well for my skin but warning: do not apply to any broken skin or it burns. Found this out from having a tender nose after a cold 🤧. Was worried it burns but after my skin healed it tolerates it fine. I didn’t notice the smell. Mine is light orange but i don’t think it’s oxidized, if you read the FAQ on their site it’s normal but you do have to use it within a few months of opening. Oh and yea the packaging is kind of crazy, for some reason it blasts out like it’s under pressure. I just push lightly on the pump and it’s not a big issue.

Product came oxidized..

Product arrived already oxidized and the packaging was very beat up. Wish I got to actually be able to give a review of the product itself instead of receiving an old product...
