The rim could be a little thicker, it sounds kind of cheesy when you hit the rim. But besides that, its a great pad. If you play a snare drum i would go for a full size practice pad though since this pad is not a full size pad, if you practice rimshots on this pad, it will mess you up on a real drum since they are bigger.
