Probably not required but the right thing to do; don't stretch it!
I used this tape to seal the seams of sections of 2 pound/sf Mass-Loaded Vinyl. It's probably not absolutely necessary but it's the right thing to do, especially if you have THAT many seams (I installed everything myself and can't hold more than 20 pounds of floppy MLV with one hand while trying to staple it with the other ... while on a step ladder!). I don't think any instructions came with the packaging but it bears to note: DON'T STRETCH THE TAPE! Just lay it on loose (no bubbling or pleating, obviously). If you stretch it while you lay it down, expect it to peel off within a minute or two. It's just not how it works. I covered everything up with acoustic panels for aesthetic as well as functional reasons. The noise levels dropped dramatically (about 10db or about half as loud as before). Remember, the MLV is doing the heavy lifting here (and to a lesser extend the acoustic panels). The tape's role is relatively insignificant ... but so is its price. Just one roll was more than enough for a 16x8 wall with seams every 4 feet horizontally and 2+ feet vertically ... so around 75 linear feet of seams.

It’s like thick electrical tape
It works ok. It comes off very easily unless the surface is very clean. Like electrical tape, it’s only good at sticking to itself, not other surfaces. Maybe a very smooth and clean surface and that’s it.

Useless, zero stickiness
Doesn’t stick AT ALL. Absolutely useless as tape, much less as tape for mass loaded vinyl.

I Used It on The Seams
Thin. Not much mass. Sticks pretty well to MLV sheets. It's just like wider electrical tape. It stretches and is black. I didn't test before and after to see if there was any measurable difference but sound wall instructions say to use a quiet barrier seam tape on seams. The bulges are nails and screws underneath it. All the white caulk on nail heads and seams (underneath tape) is Liquid Nails Acoustical Sound Sealant. It's cheaper than OSI SC175 and performs comparable.

Worth it.
Very easy to use. Worked great for sealing the areas where we had to cut out the lights, heating ducts and on the edging. The sound proofing is great so this seems to really help. Would recommend as it is easy to use and makes a difference.

It works well enough to muffle the sound
I am using this to block a very mighty and tiny speaker for my hoot septic system. The alarm is so loud it wakes the neighbors who call security in my HOA who in turn give me fines on something that is required to have. IT WORKS enough to lower it so that my neighbors and security no longer hate me. Thank you.

Not very good
This stuff stretches when unrolling and then shrinks slowly, so if you apply it immediately it pulls itself off the wall. You kind of have to wait for 30s or more for it to contract before applying, and even then it didn’t stick very well to the MLV and parts of it peeled off after a day or so. Would not recommend

Easy to apply, just don’t stretch it when you do
Arrived the day after I ordered it and was as described. I used it on TroyStudio High Flexibility Mass Loaded Vinyl Sound Proof 1 lb/sqft sheet. It was easy to cut and apply. Don’t stretch it when you are applying it and make sure it’s at room temperature. It could be a little stickier.
