Good for bass heads, features work well.
Overall great product. If you're a bass lover you would love this. In the sound connect app you can adjust bass levels for each ULT "mode" to suit your preferences. It does get to a point where if the bass is set high enough it drowns the rest of the sound out, but some people might like that. The sound quality itself is comparable to my Sony XM5 earbuds which were double the price of this pair. No issues with connectivity, it will pair automatically to devices. You can also control the volume or play/pause on the right ear with your finger. Quite comfortable as well, there is plenty of adjustments you can make to fit your head. Its also a light set of headphones, it doesn't feel cheap though, so it doesn't feel like wearing a helmet compared to other headphones. Transparency mode and noise cancellation are also top notch. Both equally better than my Airpod Pro's and Sony XM5's.

Never miss this kind of product
I bought this product as a gift for a friend. I hope he love it as I do! I opened the box and I tried it with a Playlist and the sound is exactly as I expected, I'm a SONY guy forever and always I owned SONY devices for music and televisions and this quality is the best always. Value for money: The product is well priced, plus I got it in a very good offer also. Noise cancelation: This modern characteristic in music devices is amazing, so the sound is super clear. Cord length: I don't like the length of the charger cable but is the same port from cellphones and other devices, so charging it isn't a problem. Ease of use: Without words, can't be more easy to use this device. I love the sensor to operate the earphone. ULT Bass: This is why I bought this one, because reading about this model I saw good reviews about Bass quality and really is true 100%, the Bass sound is more than amazing. The size is Ok, and fit very well on me. Battery Life: This is the only thing I'm missing to test, but I hope will be OK. Always I will recommend products Sony! 5 stars.

If bass is your thing...
Look no further. These aren't the headphones for TRUE audiophiles. But if you're a basshead like me? They're nearly perfect. I have been faithful to the Sony MDR-XB950B1(and the older BT model) but Sony no longer makes those, and they have a fatal design flaw that causes the earcup hanger to break over time. I replaced my first MDRs recently with a pair I bought from Ebay. Did some research, and these seemed like the next best option to succeed the MDRs. So, if you're someone who also loves those old MDR-XB950B1 headphones, this review is for you. ULT WEAR has better audio quality than the MDRs. The MDRs have better bass. But barely. The MDRs had always been a bit muddy in sound, due to that extra bass. A worthy exchange for people like me. The ULTs sounding better overall is nice. Unlike the MDRs, the ULTs lose bass power at higher volumes. I find the bass is the most impactful around 65-80% volume. While it's still very present at 80-100%, the high and mids drown it out a little. The bass will still rattle your head a little, but not the same way as the MDRs, where the bass scales more with the volume. Crank those up to 100% and they're going to melt your face with bass. And I love them for it. It that regard, the MDRs are better. The ULTs are no slouch though. The ULTs are lighter, and more comfortable. This is subjective, but for me, I don't like the touch controls. Sure, it makes the ULTs look sleek and minimal, but it's very easy to change songs when you're just trying to turn the volume up or down. Tactile buttons are preferred there, but I'll get used to the touch controls. Or, just use whatever device I have them connected to instead. For the price, these are fantastic. Especially if you grabbed them on that cyber monday sale, like me. $150 for these is a steal. Overall, great headphones. Probably not the best overall, for sound quality. But in their price range? You won't find anything with more bass. Hell, I'd bet that anything currently on the market doesn't match up for bass. For me, those old MDRs are the only headphones I've listened to that are better, as far as bass goes. MDRs are still the kings of bass. The ULT WEAR is a very close second.

Loud & Good
Great headphones. Not worth full price in my opinion, wait for the 50% off. I bought these because I wanted LOUD headphones. Sound is loud, significantly louder than “other” brands. However, my main concern is the connectivity. It suddenly loses connection , you have to manually turn off the headphones and reconnect it to your device. Can be annoying. Very durable though, case is great. Even without case, easy to store and carry around. Battery lasts weeks, noise cancellation is really great, compares well to other more expensive brands. Amazing for travel, I travel +12 hours flights with these and they truly isolate me. Light fit, not heavy and very easy to use.

Great for the average music listener!
This is one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The headphones look nice and overall discreet; not too flashy. The plastic material used on the outside of the headphones as well as the earmuff material has held up very well after around 6 months of frequent use. The earmuffs themselves are very comfortable and cover my ears nicely and provide a good, secure, fit where I don’t have to worry about them falling off if moving around or bending over briefly. Battery life is also excellent, I charge them about once a week if that, although in my use case I typically keep them on max 5 hours at a time, with them being used most days of the week. Your battery life may vary of course depending on your usage. The provided app is nice as it gives access to settings, updates, as well as different EQ settings. I only messed around with the app a few times but don’t really ever use it, but that’s just me. The noise cancellation and transparency features are very nice and well made, transparency mode is very good and is better than my gen 1 AirPods Pros. Noise cancellation is also very good as well and blocks out most noise. Both of these settings are also nicely controlled via a button on the left earmuff (there is a setting for automatic switching which I personally shut off as I found it irritating). There’s also a special mode which is essentially a bass booster mode that’s controlled via a big button on the left earmuff with auditory queues that amplifies the bass nicely. The right earmuff also features a touch pad for gesture-based controls that allow for up/down for volume, skip or repeat track, and can even go forward or backwards in a song. It works pretty good and is convenient!! You can even tap and hold to activate Siri which I imagine would also activate Google Assistant on an Android. As for sound quality I am not an audiophile and am an average consumer when it comes to music but these headphones fit my listening needs perfectly. The sound is very clear and high quality to my ears and as someone who personally enjoys more bass these headphones are perfect for that. The very few negatives I have are I’ve noticed recently that if I rapidly tap down or up my phone’s volume buttons there will be a slight delay in response with the headphones and a few times the headphones will adjust the volume more than the clicks implied; however this could just be a phone/operating system thing rather than the headphones themselves. Another issue I had was with the automatic transparency/noise cancelling switching…I just found it annoying and would switch it to transparency only for it to shortly switch back to noise cancellation. There was also another very odd bug and annoyance that began a few months ago but has since not occurred in about a couple months where the headphones would randomly completely disconnect abruptly without the disconnecting sound playing. It was quite frustrating and my theory is possibly some interference when my Apple Watch would get close to the left earmuff. Whatever caused the issue has since not occurred. Another added unintentional bonus is that wearing these even while not listening to anything provides a nice soothing/calming feeling, good for those who struggle with anxiety or mental health issues. Overall I would absolutely recommend purchasing these!!! As an average audio/music consumer these are perfect for me and the price was very well worth it.

NOTHING BAD TO SAY - edit found the something bad to say.
I think they’re nice, but I don’t think there is base heavy as to the Skullcandy headphones. I think there is no brand on this planet that produces bass of the skull, rattling quality than Skullcandy. However, these are so comfortable… Not as comfortable as the Skullcandy headphones, the ANC Crushers, but it’s OK Edit: They broke two years later. That plastic binding really showed its true colors. The battery life is insane and it’s on power with the Skullcandy battery life and if I was to really get into it, I would say that their battery life is the best. The controls are very easy and I love the fact that when you take it off a positive song and when you put it on back, it plays the song. I like the fact that it has multipoint connectivity so it connects to both my iPhone and my MacBook at the exact same time and I have the 2018 MacBook, so that’s actually really great. It’s not as loud as I wanted it to be but other times it’s extremely loud and I can’t pinpoint if it’s just my ears or if it’s really my preference. But sometimes it’s loud sometimes it’s not. I don’t know what that is but it’s not low. That being said, it does have a lot of bass and you definitely do hear the boom from the bass, but like I said it’s not as powerful as Skullcandy, but I think it’s a little bit clearer and A lot less muddled. The microphone is good and sometimes it’s not, but I will have the headphone like maybe arms length from where I am and I’ll be talking and the person can still hear me or when I’m using dictation or speech to text, it’s still picking up what I’m saying, even though I’m nowhere near the headphone. I love the fact that it has built-in protection for sudden increases in the volume. So like when I have my phone in my hand sometime, I’ll click the volume button and I’ll click it all the way up and sometimes I have to prepare myself because I think I’m gonna get my eardrums blown out, but what happens is if you suddenly turn up immediately it probably takes like half a second to fully get LOUD (peak)! and I think that’s great because it protects your eardrums. It’s kind of shaped awkward when it’s on your ears, but I don’t mind it and like I said, I love the touch controls because it’s a lot easier than fidgeting with a whole bunch of buttons. It’s worth the price that I paid even though I didn’t really pay for it. I used gift card, but. The personal sound with the app doesn’t really do much but I guess it’s OK. I like that it has a built-in equalizer, but even that doesn’t really do much. I will say this, the sound quality is a lot clearer from this headphone compared to the Skullcandy ANC crusher. I love it.

Thunderous bass !
I brought these headphones to replace my cowin e7 headphones which cost a fraction of what these cost. You get what you pay for. These Sony ult headphones sound amazing! I’m a bass head I listen to lots of hip hop especially songs which I know has lots of low end bass to them. This headset handles it effortlessly. The cowin e7 does not have the bass response these have not even close . Very deep smooth and controlled not overwhelming. The highs and clarity are very good as well. The headsets block out outside noise very well feels like a soundproof vacuum when I put them on. And they are comfortable to wear even for hours at a time . One thing I must say. I use these headsets with my iPhone 14 and especially with older hip hop songs the volume on the phone doesn’t cut it for me. So I ordered a riworal ph400 headphone amplifier 4 channel for like 35 bucks on Amazon. This amp combined with the Sony ult headphones is a game changer far as sound and deep bass is concerned. My iPhone is actually longer than the amp itself but the amp is a half inch thicker.Very small compact size: I get the volume clarity and deep clean bass when I use the amp and headphones together. Too bad amp is not battery powered but it’s a great sounding amp. Djs use this to amplify their headphones in noisy environments. I love the fact the knobs glow different colors very nice illumination! I only turn up the volume about a 1/4 of what’s it’s capable of but it’s plenty loud at that volume! Even at high levels on this amp the Sony ult headphones handle it no problem . For people who use their phone to listen to music with you may want to consider a headphone amp. Should have brought one before when I first got the idea in my head .These Sony headphones are well worth the price ! Update : I have used on several occasions and owned them for quite a while now . So like I said previously they sound awesome. Charge lasts for quite a while !! I don’t use the noise canceling feature it drains the battery a lot faster. These block out most outside noise without the feature activated. Only one bad thing with these . On my Samsung 75 inch tv these won’t connect via Bluetooth. I googled it and found an article confirming my suspicions were accurate. Flat screen Samsungs won’t connect via Bluetooth with these ult headsets. I love these headsets!!!

Great and not Great at the same time.
The sound quality and battery life are excellent. These really are great headphones to use. They sound great... the extra bass is nice. We have used them multiple times a week since buying them. Unfortunately the build quality is terrible. very cheap, brittle plastic. I bought two pair about 8 months ago from an electronics store. One for me. One for my wife. We travel. The over the ear noise canceling was GREAT. About a week ago my wife asked me to order another pair. Hers broke where the right side ear piece assembly connects to the head band. I asked her what she did? She said nothing out of the ordinary. She was taking them off and they just snapped. I was thinking, "Sure the just snapped. So, I'm thinking my wife carelessly broke them... and ordered another pair from Amazon for her. The day the new set arrived, I was wearing mine while watching TV. I went to take them off... and snap. Mine broke in the exact same place. Same break after about the same amount of time and use... has to be a build quality issue. Again... aside from that, these truly were some of the best headphones I have ever owned. Unfortunately... they are not very durable. So my rating for the headphones would have been 5 Star... that they break after less than a year makes me want to give them ) stars. As you can tell I am confused about how to rate them.
