I have tried several similar devices with mixed success. But I have chronic back pain and this was a gift, so it was worth a try. I am so impressed! The massage is firm without being painful. The size allows it to target exactly where the knots are worst in my back. The fact that it holds a charge will also allow me to use this regardless of my proximity to an outlet, which is a huge plus in my mind. I would buy this for any friend with back aches and would buy one to leave at work if I had to be in the office more often.

I bought this for my work trip to Hawaii. From NYC to HNL it’s around a 10 hour flight and I knew my back will be killing me. I usually upgrade but am trying to save money for Japan so was looking into portable massagers. I found this on Amazon and liked it because it was portable and rechargeable. What really shocked me was how quiet it is. I’m expecting it to be noisy but it’s very quiet which is a bonus because now I can use it when I’m in the office. It’s charged with a USB-C cable which it comes with. It has a heating function which I recommend wearing a t-shirt cause it can get quite hot if you use it for continuous 30 min. It auto shuts off at 15 min but if you need more just turn it on again. I found it last a good 45 min give or take so 3-15 min sessions before you need to charge. Charging can take up to 4 hours so I advise in between uses just charge it. It provides quick relief. For the performance and quality it’s not bad at this price.

It works, but with some caveats. The device does deliver a good massage if you position it correctly so that it hits the right spot on your back. However, using it more than three times in a row can cause discomfort or even pain. It runs for about 15 minutes per session before automatically shutting off. The first time I used it was during a day at the office. I kept restarting it every 30 minutes until the battery died. By the time I got home, the area it had been targeting was sore. Based on that experience, I’d say using it twice a day is probably enough. One major downside is the battery. I charged it overnight—over 8 hours—and it still wasn’t fully charged. That part definitely needs improvement.

I’m a Certified Massage Therapist in practice for over 37 years and I must say that this is the best and most versatile massager I’ve ever used. I can position it at different angles to get my sub-occipital ridge, posterior scalenes, levator scapula insertion, upper trapezius and cervical paraspinals. The Massaging discs change direction with a tap of the button so that I can get the muscle fibers from all directions. I position my neck to the right and left to really get at the trigger points. Perfect for all paraspinals as I move it down my back. At the lumbar region I shift right and left to get the trigger points in the quadratus lumborum. I’m struggling with piriformis syndrome and spasms in the obturator muscles in the hip. To get the left side, I sit in a lounge chair on my right hip so I can slip the massager in between the left hip and chair arm, which holds it in place. I shift it with my left hand until I find the trigger points and then stay on that spot for 30-60 seconds before moving to another trigger point. I use this at the end of day to work out kinks from giving massage after first icing and hot packing the areas to prepare my muscles for receiving massage. I repeat in the mornings if necessary. This keeps me going between professional massages that I get from a colleague. This machine gives a very firm massage. I highly recommend hot packing or icing the area before using. If you are not accustomed to receiving deep tissue massage, go easy at first and don’t lean into it with all of your weight. Increase pressure gradually. This massager is probably too strong for the very sensitive individual.
