Works well.
I have extremely dry eye. Even though I live in a state with plenty of humidity. I use this at night and it works great. It was recommended to me by my eye doctor. It has no preservative, which is a big plus. It is a little messy for me to use, but that just me! LOL

Works well for severe dry eyes
Really helps with my dry eyes. Sometimes I’ll even use it during the day.It is a thicker gel style ointment, so it can make it a little difficult to see for a little while after application. I would keep that in mind and only use it during times when you are able to have your vision slightly impaired. It has a tube style applicator instead of a bottle because of the gel like consistency of the ointment. It can be a little difficult to get a small dose because the tube wants to push out a lot of ointment even with a small amount of pressure. It’s kind of expensive but worth it. I alternate with other drops to make them last longer.

Good for what it is
I like how there are no preservatives and that there are as few ingredients as possible. I would recommend. :)Relief:It really does help me cover for the lipid layer while my different glands heal up.Ease of use:I like how it keeps my eye lubricated. It makes the vision blurry so it is only recommended for at night. I use it in the morning as well because I carpool and only apply it in one eye.It is greasy and hard to apply. My eye Dr said that I could just apply it to a very clean finger and swipe it into the lower eye pocket. That has been going well. I am on my second package because I contaminated the first one by touching it to my eye due to the recommended method on the box.Size:It is a small container. It goes a long way though. Plus a smaller container keeps you from using too old of a product and risk contaminationWhy did you pick this product vs others?:Besides lanolin, it is relatively hypoallergenic

The only thing that really helped after wind burned eyes
I experienced a sudden extreme bought of dry eye months after starting a job that requires me to get in and out of many many cars after driving them for only a few minutes at a time. My eye problems started at the end of the summer where I had grown into the habit of, after getting into hot car after hot car, I would crank up the air conditioner sky high and the fan speed up as high as possible, and point the fan straight at my upper body and face. Because I was only in each car for a few minutes, I had the air blasting at me nearly all day. Further, during this time we had a few weeks where it was constantly windy. This all led to my eyes becoming extremely painfully dry (which has never ever happened to me before), so much so that I had to wear laboratory goggles in my home and motorcycle glasses outside and at work. I had to shut my eyes when walking because I could feel the air hitting my eyeballs like paper cuts. It was excruciatingly painful. I got gel eyedrops but those never lasted more than a few minutes at a time and still did not help as much as I needed. Then I bought this at my local pharmacy and, even though this is a night time eye product, I had no other option than to use this during the day and at night. After doing that for several weeks my eyes began to heal. Even now I use this whenever I feel that my eyes have been or may be exposed to prolonged wind or fans, and today my eyes seem to have recovered. I’m very thankful for this product and will never go without it again. I try to carry it around with me wherever I go.This product has the consistency of Vaseline basically, so when you put it in you will have blurred vision. However, that was something I was willing to live with as the pain was unbearable and the relief this ointment provided was instant. The way I apply it is I lift up my upper eyelid, squeeze some ointment out underneath it, and do the same for the lower one, then I roll my eyes around both ways. I also put this in as many times a day as I need.Update: as of 12/18/24, the sides of the tube split open and began leaking out. I put electrical tape around it, so hopefully that will stop the leaking. I will still use and keep purchasing the product as it’s the only thing that helps me, but may handle it with more care so this doesn’t happen again.

Not the most solidified nighttime ointment, very drippy
I’ve been using this overnight eye ointment after lasik surgery, as advised by my eye surgeon. He did not recommend a particular brand so this one was on sale.I find the Systane ointment is hard to get into my eye. The tube pushes a lot out, so to get it in my lower eyelid without touching it and keeping it sterile is not really possible. Once I get it in one eye, my hand is already slippery from the first eye when trying to get it into my other eye. Extra ointment oozes out of the tube and then once the lid is on, creates a problem for the next night. Plus by the time I get the second eye done, the first eye has ointment dripping out.It seems like this ointment breaks down and becomes super liquidy really quickly. I had a different brand previously and it was much more congealed, as in I could get it in both eyes without it dripping out before I can even turn off the light and go to bed.It does seems to hydrate so I’ll put this tube in my overnight travel bag and get another tube of my preferred ointment for my house use.I prefer the Optase Hylo Night ointment better than this Systane.
