Richard Rohr: Essential Teachings on Love (Modern Spiritual Masters)

Every page was filled with insights.... every page infused with deep contemplation and you truly sense that the fabric that holds all the world and universe together is love. So nourishing for the soul; so necessary to digest and try to love...hahaha, sorry typo, I meant "live"... but lets keep the typo.... "love"!!!!!

For a number of years my day has started with Richard Rohr's daily meditations (free on the internet). He has become a spiritual guru for me and has vastly expanded my understanding of spirituality and Christianity. I had the pleasure to briefly meet him at the Gladdening Light Symposium in 2017. He is a "big thinker" and synthesizes a world view in a Christian context. I am not sure I fully comprehend all he has to say, but I am trying. As one of the reviewers says on the back cover, "Richard Rohr is one of the great spiritual masters of our age. Of any age." The publication of book coincides with his 75 birthday.This book is a collection of his core teachings organized by time period and topic. It will provide many hours, day, weeks, and months of spiritual reflection and growth.This book published in the Modern Spiritual Masters Series joins a select group of books by spiritual masters.I also highly recommend a book by one of Rohr's core faculty, "Christian Meditation - Experiencing the Presence of God", by James Finley.It is one of the very best books I have read.

This is it! This is the book that tells all about love, God, Scripture... It is so full of blessed thoughts on God. I read it alone and then with a group. Some with less background in Rohr and theology had a little trouble understanding some of the terms. I recommended that they just keep reading because the thoughts will become more clear as you continue reading. Some in the group were a little confused at first by going back and forth between narrative and Rohr's writing but when they recognized the process there was no problem. The book is certainly well worth investing in a little effort to read. It is one that a person will likely return to over and over. It is informative and inspirational for the spiritual journey.

Fr Rohr is guiding light for me for some years now. To have his writings about love brought together in an accessible format is a special treat. Our global culture is in tremendous need of these words at the moment. How about a movement of people who hold love as their highest value? Is that not the essence of church?

Richard Rohr makes himself vulnerable while sharing what he has learned from the Lord. I love his writings.

This book is an amazing work on at least 2 levels. 1st we take a life’s journey with Richard—warts and all he shows us human frailty brought through trial to understanding that life’s journey is coming to terms with LOVE. 2nd, he opens the the scriptures in a way, almost the simple language of our time, reminding us that our human need for structure and authority has caused our church to loose it way/connection to the walk and talk of Jesus expressed in the Gospel. This book is illuminating.

Helpful summary of Fr. Rohr's teaching. Should be at the top of every bishop's reading list. Not for those who hold the Law of Love in contempt.

This pretty much has to be the definitive writings of Fr. Richard Rohr. All of the quotes from various writings, along with considerable biographical information help you to really understand him, and how his spiritual journey unfolded...very inspirational and accessible, perhaps even life changing.

I know I will read this book again to glean more insight. I wish everyone would read Father Rohr's works. Perhaps then we could be more open to thanfully receiving God's love.

An excellent collection of Rohr's writings on the subject, very well compiled interspersed with nuggets of commentary from a discussion with Richard Rohr.
