Great no added sugar bars .

These protein bars are a thick 'chocolate' coating over a chewy orange flavoured soft protein filling with caramel like squidge and crunch pops of soy crisp. The listing is very poor in stating the ingredients as chocolate and rice, which is simply not the whole story and as a Celiac who is vegetarian, I appreciate the importance of accurate food labelling and this is a fine example of how not to do it. The bars are better labelled though, despite being in such small print that it's practically impossible to read. They are gluten free, but clearly collagen is likely to be animal based, and this just states 'beef' as one of the ingredients in the chocolate! It's almost like they're playing down the animal content as it's really understated. Despite being vegetarian, I had a small nibble and it was actually quite nice. A chewy texture with crispy crunch and a really pleasant orange flavour. The sweetness is at a good level for me, and again although the listing proudly states there's no added sugar, preservatives or aspartame, it makes no mention of what it actually is! The ingredients list is impossibly difficult to read and even split over two different colours. So I can reveal that the main ingredients are 30% milk protein and 25% chocolate glaze (that contains beef), 12% hydrolysed collagen peptides, soy crisps, cocoa butter, non-hydrogenated shea butter, vegetable Glycerine, soluble fibre, natural flavouring. May also contain traces of nuts and peanuts. So the sweetener is Stevia, which is good. Each bar contains 211 kcals, and 15.1g protein So not suitable for people with soy, nut, peanut or dairy allergens and not suitable for vegetarians or vegans!
