Was really excited to find a $5 kindle 3 at a garage sale. Needed a new battery. Got a new battery. And a couple days later, I realize I need a new battery!! Sure, the kindle can turn on now, but this battery that *should* last (I’ve read that a kindle 3 should last weeks when in standby? I’ve never had a kindle, so I don’t know..) at least a day, is dead within an hour or so of unplugging. Very easy to install. I googled a video and followed along. Done in minutes. Tools included were effective. Just disappointed with the battery itself.

I have used this battery as a replacement for my ancient Kindle, which would now only hold a charge for 12-24 hours. The hardest part of this replacement was opening the case to get to the battery. That was simple, just took gentle but firm touch with a small screwdriver and patience. I guess that's why a plastic pry tool was sent in the package, although not sure how you'd know which battery you needed without having already opened the case. The original battery lifted out of place easily once the two small screws were removed. The new battery was a perfect fit. As soon as it was in place, my Kindle began powering up. After charging it for several hours, the charging light turned green and i unhooked it. I used it last night, and checked the battery level this morning finding the indicator slightly off "full". I will be fully cycling the charge over time, and will hopefully return stating that after several cycles this replacement battery is fully functional and holds a long charge. Looks good so far!

It was easy to take out the old, puffy battery from my Kindle Keyboard and replace it with this one. It immediately turned on and started working again when I connected it.
