Disastrous purchase
This should not be sold in UK as it is American. Unfortunately I had inscribed it, as a gift, so couldn't return it. We have got rid of pounds and ounces 30 years ago in this country. How will an 8 year old in UK use this? The ingredients are also American. This should be made clear. A waste of money.

Very nice, arrived quickly
Very nice, arrived quickly, nice range of recipes a couple more meat free dishes would have been nice.

A gift with purpose
Best birthday party gift together with an apron and chef’s hat, apparently! My daughter’s friend turned 9 and has now taken to regularly cook for her parents. I will now purchase the book also for my own daughter.

I bought it as a present for my granddaughter who has just become interested in cooking.

American, terribly tested and heavily food-styled
I grew up making Good Housekeeping recipes, so I am used to the good-quality, American recipes this publisher usually produces. I didn’t think twice about purchasing this as a cookbook for my sons and thought it would be useful in teaching them to convert from cups, ounces, ‘sticks’ of butter and translate ‘all purpose flour’ and the like. What a mistake. I do not believe these recipes have been ‘triple tested’ unless I’ve just become spoiled by the British Good Food testing which creates virtually infallible recipes. With this book, you need to make so many adjustments that you are required to be an expert cook just to produce something edible. The food styling is just….beyond. I have attached the picture with the reality of the ice-cream sandwiches as but one example. The picture is clearly shop bought cookies sandwiched around shaving foam with carefully-placed chocolate chips. The reality….tasty enough, but one of the strangest recipes I’ve ever encountered and in no universe would ever resemble that picture. It speaks for the whole book. AVOID.
