A must for infants/toddlers
Great for infants and toddlers. Game-changer dor checking toddler’s temp without waking them up. Only con is that it is consistently reading 1 degree cooler than the actual temp. I just know to add 1 degree and it doesn’t bother me.

An inaccurate, unreliable thermometer isn't a usable thermometer at all!
Read all the instructions and used as directed. Readings in someone with a fever were both inaccurate and imprecise (gave a medically dangerous underestimate). Readings in someone with no fever were closer to the truth (moderate overestimate). I also checked it against results from a proven accurate thermometer that is harder to use. Foreheads often are not a good reflection of core temperature (only tympanic and rectal temps are good reflections of core temperature). So, I wasn't expecting perfection but I figured the company had done it's due diligence and was marketing a no touch forehead thermometer because it worked (as in the technology employed had advanced to the point that is was sufficiently accurate for medical decision-making purposes). I would have been happy if the thermometer read a degree lower than core temp but at least did so reliably. If it read 1 degree lower all the time because skin is cooler I would be able to factor that in to my assessment of whether someone needs medical attention or to stay home from social gatherings. However, it gave me wildly different temperature readings when used on the same very feverish person, at the same angle and distance in the same lighting taken within seconds of each other. I compared it against a proven accurate household utility thermometer that reads packed ice water correctly as 32F (0 Celsius) and full boil water as 212F (100 Celsius) very consistently as well as correctly measuring a mixture of equal parts of the two. I also compared it to another older oral digital medical thermometer that has tolerable but less impressive accuracy (had to use armpit and oral for these because the utility thermometer has a pointy metal tip that is unsuitable for any other body part - so these should be higher but not 2.5-3 degrees difference). Here is a list of some of the readings: Vetted Thermometer: 103.6 This product: 101.8 Vetted Thermometer: 104.2 This product: 100.4 (almost categorizing a serious fever as a non fever!) Vetted Thermometer: 97.5 This product: 98.6 Vetted Thermometer: 97.2 This product: 98.7 Vetted Thermometer: 97.6 This product: 99.6 Vetted Thermometer: 98.0 This product: Lo error I have no use for a thermometer that is only modestly accurate when someone doesn't have a fever and wildly inaccurate when someone does have a fever. Errors ranged from a minimum of 1 degree to almost 3 degrees. What use is that? This is not the sort of thing any person wants to be dealing with when they, their children or spouse is very sick. I see by review analysis of this product that "8,572 customers mention "Accuracy" 5,233 positive 3,339 negative" How on Earth does a thermometer that is found to be inaccurate by nearly 40% of users have a product rating over 4 stars? Some even commented that "it works well but isn't accurate" !!! An inaccurate thermometer works about as "well" as a car that doesn't move or a cell phone that only dials random numbers! Perhaps it is a severe quality control issue and half of them really do work better but there are many reviews from those who tried replacements of this product with no luck as well. If you do buy it, I'd suggest testing it out on both ends of its functional temperature range (around 97 degrees to 107 degrees) within 30 days. I bought it as a suggested item because I knew I should have another in the house and can't even return it because we didn't have any fevers to test it on for 2 months and the return window closed. Really, I would suggest finding a legit tympanic thermometer and just embrace the annoyance of probe covers because it may not even be possible to get a truly valid reading using infra-red on a feverish forehead that is actively engaged in evaporative cooling. In contrast, tympanic membranes don't sweat and the ear canal limits cooling air flow while the probe is inserted; also, there is less interference from possible environmental infra-red light interference. So there are at least three features which would help lead to a more accurate reading using the tympanic method. (some tympanic models require probe covers but if you don't like this type of plastic waste you can just reuse a probe cover after cleaning it with alcohol & write individuals initials on the base of the cover).

Awesome Thermometer! Very Accurate.
The thermometer works well and is easy to use! Batteries are included which is nice. Much easier to use than a traditional under the tongue thermometer, especially if you have squirmy impatient children.
