Great drive, looks solid and well made. I'm getting between 80-110 MB/s stable transfers out of it. One caveat - the drive is formatted for Mac out of the factory, so it wont mount in Windows. You have to go into the disk manager, delete all partitions and recreate a new one in order to be able to use it in Windows. Works fine once you do that but it's a bit ridiculous to expect everyone to go into disk manager just to get the darn thing to work!!!

I use an M1 MacBook and got frustrated with failed backups and performance issues with Time Machine and this drive. I was using the wrong cable, not the 10G cable included. On a whim, I changed to the included cable and problems went away. Instead of Time Machine saying "1 week" to complete, the backup went to 3 hours. Yes, with this drive the cable is important! This is the second drive of this series I have used, as I rotate drives annually and archive the older ones. I have experience in the backup industry and understand all drives, rotating disk or solid state, will fail. Backups are important. So use the included cable!

I have read some negative reviews stating it's not plug-and-play. It's true, it was a bit of a pain to set up, but the unit is very robust, and it was quickly working away, copying 3.5TB from another drive that was not working well, hence this purchase. Not sure how long it will last, time will tell. The 5-year-old 5 TB Seagate didn't.

I bought one of these a 5tb version a few years ago and it’s been really good so decided to buy the 6tb version and hope it’s just as good.
