I love this Churchwarden pipe. I had actually bought mine quite a while ago with the Tree of Gondor engraved on it. The bowl tends to burn pretty hot. It would be easy to burn right through if you’re not careful. It can even start to sweat, and some of the stain may come off on your hand. I’ve tried to build up a decent cake on the inside to help remedy it, but it can still burn pretty hot. I think it may be best as more of a prop for cosplay, or even just a collector’s item. It’d be a shame to burn up such a wonderful pipe, so I tend to smoke my other pipe more often than this Churchwarden. That being said, I still can’t bring myself to give it anything less than 5 stars, because it IS still a wonderful pipe! Again, mine was bought quite a long while ago, so maybe since then this has been fixed with these newer ones.

Purchased for my husband; pipe arrived promptly, well packaged. It is a beautiful piece of work. He broke it in according to the instructions and is enjoying smoking it daily. Draws easily and smokes clean, bowl does not get too hot. This pipe is well worth the money.

The draw could be better, I have concerns with the durability of the finish and the bowl does get a little warm. At it's price point it is decent. Perhaps a good pipe to take out with you. I could handle losing this a lot better than my nicer pipes. I am a tinkerer so refinishing and improving the draw would just be a project for me.

I got this for my pirate costume. It fits the part and is very nice looking. If your smoking regular tobacco it doesn't get hot like the other reviews say. If your smoking " other " than im sure it's going to get hot. I really liked this

I loved this pipe for about two ounces of tobacco. The feel, the style, smoked great, everything. Then after about two ounces the finish, that's right finish not oil, started coming off on my hand. Really hard to get off my skin. Then a hole started to burn through the front. I've been smoking about 35 years and have many pipes and never had anything like this happen. I love the churchwarden and wish I had tried them sooner, just not this pipe.

After smoking and cleaning this pipe for a month or so I decided I actually like it and just might purchase another one.n

The pipe is light and comfortable to hold. I does need some breaking in at first, so expect your tobacco to taste a bit "woody". The stem is made from plastic and does not fit a 9mm filter. The stem also feels a bit cheap and my saliva collecting a bit on the mouth piece. The tree of gondor design on the bowl of the pipe is nicely etched in. My biggest complaint about this pipe is the wood used. It does not absorb heat well, so the pipe gets very hot while smoking. Even if I change my rhythm of smoking to a slower and cooler smoke it still gets very hot. The heat also effects how quickly the tobacco burns. This makes my experience smoking virginia blends a bit harsh. This issue I do not have with my other more expensive pipes. If heat isn't as issue for you then you should get this pipe.

Because of the cone-shaped cup, tobacco tends to compress inside it restricting air circulation and requiring more effort to smoke. When you wash the pipe paint goes off with water. Would not smoke with it nor would I buy it again. Too bad, I loved the long pipe initially.
