The Cover Illustration is NOT what you get!
The stories themselves are great just like the other English heritage ghost stories book which I loved! Illustrations are black and white which doesn’t bother me but worth noting. The only issue is that the book cover is not the one pictured on Amazon! Whilst it is still the same book, the cover is a bit scary! Wish I got the floral and bunny version instead of the scary teethed man!

The Illustrations are in black and white
The stories may be great, I have not read them. I bought this book as a present for someone who is a fan of the illustrator Clive Hicks-Jenkins. Except for the colour cover all his illustrations are reproduced in black and white. Each chapter has one full page illustration at the start, but they have been unsympathetically cropped, and one tiny illustration of the place or building at the end.

Not what I expected!
I was so looking forward to reading this, the cover it's self promised great stories. All I can say is it's all very underwhelming, the introduction is the longest and most boring I have ever read, took up far too many pages that another story could have fitted. The "stories" are very short and classed as "reimagined myths and legends" but we're utterly boring and tedious reads.I thought each author was given an English Heritage site to create a story for?..yet you wouldn't have a clue where you were, big thumbs down for someone who loves folklore/myths/legends fact and fictional, just can't relate with these "stories".
