Massive improvement to WiFi coverage...
Bought a 960 series router and two satellite kit (RBRE963) to replace our aging (but still functioning) Orbi RBK53 WiFi mesh setup... which had been brilliant... but we'd simply outgrown it. It was struggling to hang onto the concurrent connectivity of our ever-expanding devices around the home and it would reboot itself more than occasionally in what I suspect was just it trying to keep up. So... seven years of relatively solid service later (and now off to a good home and in the hands of much less WiFi demanding family friends)... in comes the 960... and BOOM, what a difference. Installation was easy... the web interface is the same as before... so once in and configured to replicate our previous Orbi, we were up and running. I have since bought an additional satellite (a used one for reasonable money) to put in our garden room so that the Ring security camera and Echo smartspeaker in there get a decent signal, along with the various TP-Link smart switches that control our garden lighting and pond features. Problematic at first (lots of disconnections) but once I'd turned the WiFi transmission power down (down from 100% to 25%) everything worked perfectly. Even some of the devices in our 'WiFi blackspot' kitchen all connected with a strong signal and finally, no drop outs to the Echo device in there. And another bonus is that they're compatible with the existing RBKWM-10000S wall mounts that the old Orbi's were on (once you remove the bracket adaptor). Well done Netgear for not screwing the upgrading customer over with that one. So... any downsides? YES! Firstly, it's outrageously expensive. There's no getting away from that. It's just hideously priced and what's worse is router security and parental controls are pricey subscription add-ons! Given the cost of these things, why is that functionality not included as standard!? Second... these have grown in physical size by quite a bit over our previous Orbi devices... maybe that's just a consequence of their better antenna arrays and therefore better connectivity but these are big lumps of hardware. And third... please improve the web user interface because it's old, slow and not pretty. Apart from that, I am really happy with my purchase (especially as I caught them on a bit of a rare Amazon discount moment which chopped quite a bit off of the RRP). Highly recommended and hope to get another seven odd solid years of WiFi coverage from it.

What can I say
Ok so far so good From me I have no issues with this unit at all, and it works as per expected Now, while I read reviews about solid brick walls stopping the WiFi signal what do people expect from a signal, solid brick walls will stop WiFi signals no matter what router and brand you purchase Yes WiFi signals don't suffer in a property made from plasterboard and wood but bricks it will, so with that said and looking at this unit I find this unit just as good and if not better than my last orbi purchase In regards to the orbi tech iv been running this system for 10 years near on via my first purchase being the orbi50 With the orbi it works, it's stylish and fits right in with my home Now getting back to the orbi more so this one While price is a bit heave I did do my home work prior to my purchase With my home work I noted the working speck of the unit and sadly I could not find another unit with the same or better specks when I talk speck I don't talk about what Internet speed it can handle I speak of the unit and unit only, hence looking at the data rates these units can processes After doing my home work and having enough knowledge on how to set these units up I can only have positive thoughts At present I have a units, one being the router and the other being the satellite, with this I have over 40 smart home items connected and as per it should be everything works as per expected From turning my heating on from the other side of the world to just about anything I have connected I have no issues Have a nice day

Think about your type of walls first before buying
Not worth it for the money only marginal gains over my Vodafone range extenders. I was expecting great things at this price and indeed the reviews seemed encouraging. However there are several things the info does not tell you, if you have a sturdy brick build house, walls each wall represent an almost total loss of signal. I am having to put a satellite about 3m away from the main hub through a brick wall and the signal loss is in my estimation around 85%. My house is 3000 sq ft and the two satellites in the kit covered about 55% of the house. I have now bought these extra two satellites. Now the other thing that the info does not tell you if you have a mesh that jumps three satellites you lose considerable wifi signal (in my case about 50%) so that leaves you having to find a path from the main unit to the additional routers and in my case that's nowhere even sockets 6m away through walls lose 100% of the signal. With my old Vodafone range extenders I got signal all over the house but at reasonable slow speeds, I've now spent £4,000 and I have great speed in around half my house but very slow speeds in the rest. Just be aware of these issues when you thinking about this kit.

Outstanding Mesh System – Fast, Reliable, and Easy to Set Up
I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the Netgear Orbi RBK970. Setup was simple and straightforward—just followed the included instructions and everything was up and running in no time. Performance-wise, it’s been flawless. All of my devices connect seamlessly, and I’m consistently hitting the maximum internet speeds provided by my ISP, which is a huge win. Even in a large home with multiple users and smart devices, the system hasn’t missed a beat. What really stands out is the rock-solid stability. I’ve had zero issues with devices dropping off the network, and the connection has remained strong and consistent throughout. Highly recommended if you're looking for a premium, high-performance mesh system that delivers exactly what it promises.
