I messed up a LOT of crimps, but that is not the fault of this kit - 10/10 would recommend
I'm a novice to crimping powerpoles, and really had a trial-by-fire. I am VERY happy I didn't purchase the nearly $100 "brand name" powerpole kit for the same experience. I messed up a LOT of crimps, and have learned my lesson to avoid those novice mistakes, but each and every crimp failure was my own, and not a fault of this kit. I do like that it comes with various sizes, as well as the shrouds, but I would have liked for it to come with the rollpins as well which help keep the paired connectors attached. It's not *that* big of a deal, but would have been nice. You cannot tell the difference between these and the "brand name" ones even side by side unless you go looking for differences. From an operation standpoint, they've been phenomenal - what more can you ask for? I have very large hands (size 2XL gloves) and I find the crimpers to be a bit awkward to use - you really don't need THAT much leverage when there's already a ratchet/gear mechanism, so they could be a LOT shorter and more comfortable as a result. To overcome this, I just use the surface of my workbench when crimping, and it works out well -- a lot of my issues were caused by trying to use these free-standing in a single hand, causing me to fumble the crimps. Just a note to the wise: When crimping the 15/30A ends, be sure to leave a little bit of copper exposed so the crimps have somewhere to "bite" into, and then use well-fitting heat shrink to cover the gap so you don't mess with the tolerances on the shroud. This is what caused many issues for me - I was trying to crimp too close to comfort. One other piece of advice is to be slow and methodical with pushing the crimp into the "slot" before crimping - you don't have to push it in ALL the way, just until the "bent" portion at the end of the crimp disappears. A tip I use is to push the crimp in until I only see where the copper terminates (when looking top-down at the crimp) and then I use the leverage of my workbench to quickly crimp and keep a sttable angle. Once I started doing this, I had a lot fewer failed crimps. Will buy again!

Just What I Needed
I admit it, I did try to use my existing crimpers on Power Pole connectors...with very limited success. After just a few crimps with this tool, I knew it was exactly what I needed. I may not use this crimper every day, but it is a really nice addition to my electrical tool kit, and good to have when I do need it. For my uses (and money) this crimper is a keeper. It will probably last years for me. Good product, and fast delivery. I highly recommend it for anyone using Power Pole type connectors. It really IS the right tool for the right job.
