This really plays 4K movies however, you need a monitor that can show 4K and HDR, also you also need Software (I'm using Cyberlink) to play it. I do have a JVC Projector that only plays 1080p but it does the shifting. However it does not let me do HDR adjustments so it will not automatically play the movie unless I connect it to a 4K TV. I can download the movie to my PC but during playback the colors looked washed out. So I'm using it for my media server so I can properly watch it on my Network to my 4K TV's. The only problem that I see with it is that the button that you use to eject to open and close it is real stiff and sometimes you cannot tell if you pushed it or not. Best player so far though. Amazing.
