A different style of coloring book with lots of fun innovative paper styles – designs printed one side of page
The media could not be loaded. I am a real fan of Jane Davenport. I own her two “how-to” books (“Fabulous Figures” and “Beautiful Faces”.) I like her design style and have enjoyed learning how to draw with her. When I saw that she had a coloring book (though it’s really much more than that), I pre-ordered it and, when it came in, was even more happy with it than I thought I would be.The book contains high quality paper in a number of finishes: coloring, marker, watercolor, and kraft paper. They each have a different look and feel. By including the various paper, it allows the colorist to experiment with different medium and to branch into other areas of the art form.I generally test the medium for a coloring book with a wide variety of items but in this case, I will not be doing that. The whole purpose of the book is to try different things on different paper and that is exactly what I intend to do. If something works, great! If it doesn’t, it is a learning experience. My one caveat is that I will certainly use a blotter page below my working page. Thing may and probably will leak through. I want to be sure that I keep the pages below in good condition so I can have the enjoyment of coloring them all. This is what I found in this coloring book:The designs in the book are printed on one side of the page. The reverse of the page is printed with full color artwork and lovely thoughts and/or quotes. The book is glue-bound; however, each page is perforated for ease of removal. Also, each page designates the type of paper that is used.In addition to the coloring pages, there is included a page of full-color and quote stickers and also a variety of collage papers to provide fun for a mixed-media style of coloring. All in all, one of my favorite coloring books in a while. I’ll have fun with this one!

Inspirational!
As usual, Jane Davenport doesn't disappoint! There are four different types of paper and tons of drawings/sketches by Jane. I was very pleasantly surprised to see how it was organized. On the left hand side of the paper there are quotes, copies of her artwork, etc. And they are all from Jane's personal journal! Then on the right side there is a page for you to complete. BUT it isn't a blank stark white page! Surprise! Just enough of Jane's personal touches to get you going. The pages are able to be easily pulled out so you can use them any way you want but they are held in place strongly enough that you can use the book and keep it intact. I would recommend this to anyone interested in art journalling but especially those of us that might only have a few minutes here and there. Because the pages are started I don't feel the pressure to complete a project! My only problem is I should have bought 2 because I want to keep one as is so I can use it as an inspiration for my own artwork and to relax and put myself in positive mind frame. If you are new to Jane save yourself the time and buy all 3 books (Fabulous Figures and Beautiful Faces)! Welcome to the Davenpeeps!

This book is freakin’ Amazing!!!
I love this book! It’s that simple. Jane has really outdone herself when she designed this book. It’s more than just a fancy coloring book. It’s as if I’ve been given one of her art journals. The amount of care and love that she put into it really shows in the finished product. On the left side of the open book the pages are partially worked on. You can use these as jumping off points and inspiration for your own art. On the right hand side are black and white drawings that you can color in. The beauty of this design is that there are four types of paper in this book. It starts out with coloring sheets, then moves on to craft paper, marker paper, and watercolor paper. There are sheets of tissue paper in the back that you can use as a collage element as well as a sheet of some really lovely stickers. If you are considering this book just please go ahead and click that button to buy it. You will not regret it! In fact, I just ordered a second copy because this book is so beautiful and nicely done that I wanted another one to work in so that it can keep the other copy pristine. Congratulations on another amazing book, Jane!!!

You'll probably want to buy more than one of these!
This book is so amazing I'm going to buy another one! When I saw that Jane Davenport was creating a coloring book, I originally wasn't interested. I don't really like to color—I'd much rather make my own drawings and images in my own art journals. But then I saw the video for the book and was so intrigued, I had to get one. This book does have "coloring pages" but they are on different types of paper: coloring, kraft, marker, and watercolor. It also includes completely and partially finished artwork from Jane's own journals for you to add to or be inspired by.I love that I'll be able to add my own ideas and colors to bits of Jane's work. So much fun!The reason I want to buy another one is the pages are printed on both sides and I want to frame some of the pictures and add others to my art journals without losing the image on the other side. The book also includes a couple of pages of collage paper and a sticker page. So. Much. Fun. This would make an awesome gift for your friends who love art journaling. <3 <3 <3
