It’s very lightweight, has good insulation and will easily smush down to fit in a backpack. I purchased the navy blue-it’s a very dark blue- I’m 5’5” & about 165 lbs; and it comes down to the top of my knees. Sleeves are about 3” too long which is nice to keep hands warm. I did size up (I usually wear an XL in Columbia tops) and ordered a XXL, so I would have extra room to wear heavier weight tops. So glad I did that, as it is quite comfortable & cozy. Most of my weight is in my midsection (not busty -just the 70 year old belly going on). If you’re younger, and still have a waistline, I think you could stay with your usual size. Both outside pockets have zippers, as well as a double zip front. The quality is superb, so I’m expecting it to last many decades of wear and tear. I know it’s a bit spendy, but it’s well worth the price.
