They write fine. They are cute and the boxing novelty is fun too. There are little buttons on the cack placed side by side that you use to accomplish the boxing. However, I have large hands, so it is very easy to hit both buttons at the same time when I do not mean to. The ink is only about half the length of the pen itself, so there is not a lot of ink in each pen. And when you do use them to write, the extra weight at the top makes it slightly awkward. However, the writing function on pans like these is probably not going to be your biggest reason for buying them. They are a novelty item, and for that, they are good.

I got these cat boxing pens for the upcoming holiday season to give as silly stocking stuffers. There are 3 different cat heads on various color of pen barrel. The pen itself is not the main attraction, but it does write surprisingly smooth, with black ink.
