Great looks only get you so far in this world
The LG Puricare Aerotower delivers on most promises and looks great in my living room: white walls, beige/grey colors. I was instantly impressed by the way the box opened. I'm not sure if it was repackaged or all are like that, but it's 10x easier. Complete genius. Then after reading the instructions, I became unimpressed. You see people, there was no battery included. You cant turn it on without their remote. There are no buttons. Poor back up plan. NO BUTTONS. Luckily I had a Dyson remote that used the same battery, so I switched, turned it on, and then switched back and have used the ThinQ app since. I started out on the 'auto' speed option since it's been a couple of weeks since the room was last purified. It went fine for maybe 60 seconds. Then, the sound of someone vacuuming came from right behind me. I promise you I jumped up, spilled everything on my lap and started turning midair to figure out who was vacuuming my apartment, which I live alone with my cat in. It was the fan. Thats the sound it makes when increasing to a higher level. The sound as the levels increase is that of a vacuum. And not a new vacuum that attempts to be quiet, but one from the 80's where you expected to hear nothing but the vacuum for the duration of vacuuming. It goes back and forth, trying to kill you all day. I will tell you that level 4 is when you start to notice the sound and level 5 (of 10) is the first that really irritates you. Levels 1 through 3 are silent, so your choice buyers. For a low level purifier fan that looks great AND you can always be turned on auto or a high level when nobody is home, this doesn't replace a Dyson. When it comes to most anything Dyson makes, if they're an option, choose Dyson. I said most, not all. But when they compete in a space, they compete to win and they usually do. I also have a Dreo tower fan. It's not a purifier though. It's also a much lower volume vs. the LG and that was 20% of the cost with Amazon Renewed. I won't get started on Amazon Renewed, but it's worth it.
