Game changer, this is what is next in school projectors.
I started working with this projector this week and my kids and I love it.I teach in an inner city charter school. We have a fleet of bulb projectors of various vintages, (all of which still use a VGA cable). When you replace the bulb on these it is costs $50 to $100 to replace and the projector never really works right again. Also if you have a bulb explode it can take out the whole projector. As luck would have it my bulb projector let go the day I got this one.Pros: HDMI input so no resolution reduction on your laptop. Clear sharp picture. It can also display a very large screen. I think that it is the only pico projector with a Kensington Security slot, (important as this thing is SO small). Not as noisy as the larger projectors.I think the price is right for the quality that you are getting. Like most things ASUS they put a lot of thought into this. I am adding this to my school’s wish list.Neutral: This projector is going to change the geography of classrooms. To use this projector in my classroom I have to position it 3 feet closer to my wall. I also have to use pads of paper to adjust the position. People with ceiling mounted projectors may have an issue. This projector is very, very small. It is about the size of a sandwich and not more than a few pounds. It comes with a pouch, (kind of a tight fit), and you could literally fit it and its cords in a backpack or larger purse. This is why you really, really need that Kensington Security Slot. The reactions of my colleagues were, “Where’s the projector?” and “Awwww”, (sound you make when seeing a kitten).Cons: The manual is almost useless. There is nothing about maintenance or how to replace the bulb or if you even have to. They supplied foreign outlet cords that I do not need and are going straight to the eWaste bucket. This thing is new, very new. I don’t know how well it will stand up to the rigors of life in an inner city school so I am rolling the dice here.Summary: I really like this projector. It has the right price, the right features and I believe this is what educational projectors will look like in the 21st century. I really wish that I could buy more but my school lacks the budget.

It works great, with a clear and well defined image
I'm using it for my classes and it's been a mayor investment! It works great, with a clear and well defined image. I use it with my iPad and it works great. I must say that the colors are not quite as in the iPad, I'm trying to change the settings to adjust them but I haven't succeeded yet. All in all its a great device, light and portable. And i love how fast it turns on. Totally worth it!

Missing battery and remote
I ordered an open box Asus P2E projector, it was missing the battery, so it did work as advertised, "portable battery projector". It does make black bars as another reviewer mentioned, so that was disappointing. The box I received also was missing the remote. I'm sure a new one would have had these items, but really NO BATTERY AND NO REMOTE.It was returned. I purchased a 3M MP220 projector instead, it does not have the HDMI, but I like it's build, and it works for almost two hours on battery, and it's very small.

Tiny with compromises
I got this projector to watch movies and TV from my Chromecast and MacBook Pro. Both connect via HDMI. This isn't an ideal projector for this use for a few reasons. First the good points. It is very compact, about the size of four CD cases stacked. It looks nice. The onscreen display and buttons are straight forward and easy to use. However there are downsides.Connectivity is limited. To spite the description ("The P2E can also read a vast array of major media formats directly from storage via a built-in microSD card reader and USB 2.0 for PC-free presentations.") this projector does not have a microSD card reader nor does it have a normal USB 2.0 port either. It does have a micro USB port that seems to have no function. Perhaps camera kits such as ( Smays 5-in-1 MicroUSB MHL to HDMI Cable with OTG Camera Connection Kit / 11-pin Micro USB Adapter for Samsung Galaxy S2 S3 S4 i9500 Note2 N7100 (Black) ) will work but I haven't been able to test it.The projector claims a resolution of 1280x800 but will only accept inputs on HDMI at 1280x720, leaving a black bar at the bottom. Worse yet, no matter the HDMI input source used, the projector scales the image both vertically and horizontally leaving the image fuzzy. The DLP (the chip that makes the image) has its pixels arranged in a diamond pattern as opposed to a grid further adding jaggies to straight lines. When connected via VGA it will accept and display the full 1280x800.Colour reproduction can be hit or miss. When connected to my MacBook Pro the projector reports itself as a TV that accepts colour in YPbPr instead of the computer standard RGB. You need to use an EDID override (search "force rgb mode in mac os x", the download is on github) to get proper colour otherwise everything is washed out with weird tinting. Additionally, the default display settings can't display close to a full colour gamut. Set brightness to 5; contrast to 4; leave sharpness at 15 and saturation at 50. The projector will lose these setting when you unplug it. Higher contrast or brightness will lead to clipping of the colour gamut and give a blotchy picture: dark greys become black and light greys become white. This stuff concerning colour doesn't apply as much if you're using the projector for presentations or high-key content (such as cartoons or TV sitcoms). If you're directly to the left, or slightly behind and to the left of the projector the remote doesn't work well. The tiny speaker isn't very good but when you see the size of the projector you'll know why. There is a 3.5mm jack for connecting to headphones or larger powered speakers. The auto-keystone works well, but only supports keystone up and down, not side to side. I have the projector on a tripod and have auto-keystone turned off for the best picture quality.A carry case is included, as well as a the remote with built-in laser pointer. Both nice touches. And you get the required mini-VGA cable if you're connecting your projector that way.Pros: compact, quiet, bright for its size, tripod mount, on screen menus.Cons: forced image scaling, colour reproduction, overall fuzziness.Weird: seemingly useless micro USB port.Overall the projector seems more suited to the conference room than the living room. But with adjustments and in a dim environment it makes a alright projector for movies and TV.

Just got this projector a few days ago and I could not be happier. If you are looking for an affordable, lightweight projector with a good throw and high quality picture, look no further. This isn't an IMAX movie theatre projector, but honestly, who has a dedicated movie room with the proper setup to support it? I sit this thing on my coffee table, 9 feet from the wall and project 120 inches in 720p. Yeah, this was a great purchase.
