Solved by TV connection problems.
My use: I connect two bluetooth headphones (wireless) to the TV [LG C1] for casual viewing and two audiophile headphones (wired) for serious viewing (opera, movies). The speakers, while good quality, don't work for my old ears or very well for my odd-shaped room. The TV does a lousy job of connecting to the bluetooth. Fussy sometimes, dropping connections, forcing me to go into the settings to correct too often. The Avantree solves all of this. The Avantree powers on when the TV powers on. The Avantree connects immediately to both bluetooth headphones as soon as they are turned on. The Avantree passes the optical signal through to my dac/headphone amp so the wired headphones turn on instantly when that amp is powered on. Any one or all four headphones all on with a single click. The TV forced a choice: wireless of wired, not both. Now all four headphones work together. Caveat: If you have Bose QC Ultra headphones (as I have) you will notice that both the Bose and the Avantree advertise that they use the aptX-adaptive codec. The lowest latency seems to be aptX-LL which the Avantree supports but the Bose does not. There are other quality bluetooth headphones that will give a slightly better lip-synch for TV by connecting with aptX-LL. The difference is subtle but some people are sensitive to it.

No lip sync delay!
Intent: Watch TV both with headset and existing sound bar simultaneously. My Setup: Avantree aptX HD Transmitter/Receiver (device being reviewed) Avantree [2020 New] aptX-HD 24 Bit Hi-Fi Bluetooth 5.0 Active Noise Cancelling Headphones Existing Vizio TV with optical audio output Existing Vizio sound bar w/ Bluetooth subwoofer Setup: Fairly simple to connect the Avantree Tx/Rx to the optical audio output of the TV and, using the Tx/ Bypass mode (switch on the right side of unit), connect the sound bar to the Avantree Tx/Rx. Selected Low Latency priority mode using the switch on the left side. Power provided by USB connection from the TV. Easy on. Simple to pair with both headsets, (Holding Tx button for 2 sec puts the unit in pairing mode, then put the desired headset in pairing mode and Voila!) - voice prompt confirms connection (and the voice can be turned off/on as it could become annoying after awhile but is useful inn the early setup phase.) Device remembers and recognizes each headset as it is turned on and within range. For my situation, the range seems quite adequate. Can roam around the entire house without dropping. Avantree Tx is centrally located in the living room. Tried the furthest reaches of the basement without issue - at least 40-50 ft away with wooden studded walls/floors. Pros: Easy setup/pairing, Bypass mode works fine to allow both sound bar and headsets. No lip sync delay when used in conjunction with compatible headset. Also, customer support is very good. Initially had an issue with a different headset that was causing an issue and not allowing Low Latency mode. Once I paired the device with an appropriate headset, everything was great. Cons: Given my setup, when both headset and soundbar are used, there is a slight echo (time delay between the two devices) Do not notice any lip sync delay with either headset or sound bar when used individually but when used together there is a slight reverb. I suspect that this is due to my older model sound bar which is not "low latency". Not terribly bothersome for me but something to consider.

Good Transmitter / Receiver If your headphones are the only device nearby.
I purchased his device years ago because I live in an apartment and I generally listen to my music and TV with headphones as not to disturb my neighbors. This transmitter / receiver worked well for five years, but I had to get a new one when it had trouble pairing. Unfortunately while this was the best transmitter/ receiver five years ago, now there are better options, simply because you have to pair your devices blind with this. Because of this I returned the second one I purchased (in 2023). Today, there are just too many Bluetooth devices that will: pair with this device instead of your headphones, or cause interference when you try to pair. So if you live in a house without a lot of Bluetooth devices and you are far from your neighbors, this might work for you. However, there are similarly priced options on Amazon that allow you to select the device you wish to pair. A more detailed review follows. My item came packaged in card box with an outer sleeve displaying the item an brand. Included were the transmitter /receiver, an optical cable, a 1/8” male-male stereo cable, a usb power cable and the instructions. A 120V (wall plug) to USB adaptor was not included. Avantree justifies this as reducing waste and recommends you plug the device directly into you TV. The justification, to reduce waste, while common today is non-sense and ridiculous. Set up is fairly straightforward. The TV audio out connects on the audio in side and your stereo (or what ever device you normally send audio to) connects on the audio out side. I should note that while the device supports both optical audio and a more traditional 1/8” stereo cable, you can’t cross these in bypass mode. i.e., if you use the optical cable for input, the optical cable has to be used for output for bypass to work. Pairing devices to the transmitter can be difficult. When switched to transmitter mode the device automatically will pair with the last device(s) or enter pairing mode. You can also hold the pairing button for a few seconds to enter pairing mode. As mentioned earlier, in either case, the device will latch on to the strongest signal and pair with that. It doesn’t matter if that signal is your headphones or your neighbor’s smart speaker, because pairing is blind. The second “B” channel is even more difficult to pair because wi-if signals interfere on that band. In fact the only way i could get something paired on the B channel was to take the device to my car, drive far away and pair my headphones away from any interference. Once set up the device has three modes, transmitter/ bypass, off/bypass and receiver. In transmitter mode you can both transmit and have music go to your stereo. In the off mode, the device is unpowered but sound will go to your stereo. There are two sound modes, low latency and high fidelity. In the low latency mode, lag is minimized sacrificing some sound quality. In the high definition mode, audio quality is prioritized at the expense of some lag. The former mode requires headphones that can support low latency. Either way sound quality is fine and there is minimal lag. Again, while I was happy with my purchase five years ago, today the technology/ features of this device are outdated. Blind Bluetooth pairing just isn’t a good option today and for that reason alone I can’t give it five stars, even if the blind pairing is part of the design. I’ll rate this for four stars, for the quality of the device sound and low latency. I’m deducting a star primary because of blind pairing and a lack of a usb to wall adaptor to power the device.

Everything Works. Very Easy To Use. Great Manual
This is one of those rare products which just works the way you want it to. First time, every time. The manual which comes with it very clearly explains how to set it up, simplifying what could be complicated. It informs you to properly configure things which could be otherwise easily be overlooked. Everything connected easily and worked well on the first attempt. Pairing it with a variety of different bluetooth headphones was a snap. It was all so nice. If only all products worked this nicely. In addition to the clear user manual and easy setup, the device has lots of connection options. Yet they've somehow presented it all in an easy to figure out front panel. And it shows you what is going on. No guessing if the device paired in SBC mode or aptx LL. It is clearly shown on the front panel. Want to change the audio input from the aux jack to the optical input? You simply tap the AUX/OPT switch on the front panel. And then it displays which is selected. Again, no guessing. Which do you prefer, aptx LL or aptx HD? Rather than letting the devices decide which to utilize, they provide a simple slide switch appropriately labeled for you to select which connection option to use. And then it shows you on the front panel which they actually connected in. Again, no guessing! Someone really took the time to make what could be very complicated and present it to the user in an easy to use manner. So, so nice! In the future, I will be looking to Avantree for other products. I hope they are all done this well. I am not affiliated with Avantree in any way. I am not a formal Amazon reviewer. Look at some of my other reviews. They range from highly critical to highly complimentary, as in this case. I'm just a regular guy who buys various things from Amazon. This is my honest review.

I really wanted this to work in spite of strength of the bluetooth transmitter is 12 feet!
The bluetooth range is terrible. The specs say 155 feet. I tried this with 2 different bluetooth devices. Both as a single connection each. and then both together.I also tried it with spdif and 3.5mm audio. spdif on my samsung tv and 3.5mm ausio on a lenovo laptop. If I am sitting within 3 feet of it ... it's great. so there are connectivity problems with this Oasis. Debating now to try a replacement, or return for something else. Will update. Update: did the paperwork, next day received new Oasis. Initial test. Don't know why the initial connection to BT earphones selected SBC as the codec and should have selected aptx HD (H). connected them to earbuds flicked the HD LL switch and switched between SBC and H. Now will test w headset again. Now the headset connects in HD!! Will do another test with the optical cable. Then I will shut down the wifi for 15 minutes after I power up the Oasis again. Rasing to 4 stars. Second update: connected to optical from samsung tv and output to soundbar. Everything works flawlessly. CONCLUSION: Obviously the first device was defective. I had mentioned that the box looked as if it had been opened although the seal was intact. This device was a POS. QUESTION?: Why does Amazon or Avantree let this crap happen? This makes me reluctant to buy from Amazon. Ok they will replace it, but do you want to play the game “will this one work”? After a couple of times I hate the game! I have been buying elsewhere and NOT running into this issue. REVISIT: so I tried it today the next day. No sound. The optical connection kept flashing on and off. WTF it worked last night. Today no sound?? Will contact support and if no satisfaction then back to Amazon. Back to 1 star. How difficult is the setup with a Samsung tv let me count the ways. First this is old bt tech but still works. The real issue was the optical cable output format. It was set to dolby atmos, BUT needed to be set at PCM. THE Spectrum input worked for audio out but NONE of the apps (netflix, prime, appletv …). So I separated the power so it would stay on when I shut off the tv. A huge PITA. But when it works it’s nothing short of wonderfully! Well the protocol dropping aptxhd at totally unpredictable times is more than annoying. I really want stuff to work. I don’t want to have to jump through hoops to keep it working. This is truly a POS. DO NOT BUY!! I am sending the second one back too. I will NEVER buy a product from Avantree again. For $69 this is way too much of a headache to get working, to keep working and the random drop offs are the straw that breaks my camel’s back.

Perfect!
I use earbuds at night to watch TV so I don't bother other people. However the Blu tooth on my TV only has a range of about 20 feet. So I watched video reviews on blu tooth transmitters, and this one was highly rated. I'm so glad I purchased this! Plug and play, easy to pair. Zero latency (voices match mouths) when paired with my Bose QC II earbuds. I can walk all over the house and hear the TV. Great for when I'm cooking or doing dishes. NOTE: MAKE SURE YOU PAIR WITH aptX LOW LATENCY EARBUDS/HEADPHONES/SPEAKERS OR THERE WILL BE A DELAY WITH THE TV IMAGE. SETUP - I initially used the included optical cable straight from the TV to the transmitter because I figured it would be the best sound quality. It worked great, but I could only adjust the volume with the buttons on the device itself, as opposed to the TV remote. So I switched to the 3.5mm audio cable - also included - and the sound is just as good, and I can now adjust the volume using my TV remote! Great device, does exactly what it says, and even looks nice. I like the touch screen buttons elegantly laid out on top of the device.

Worked for about 3 months, then quit, mediocre tech support
This is actually a pretty good unit when it works. I use it to listen to TV When it was working, it would connect to my ear buds automatically, I can walk through much of my house without losing connection (the range is much better than typical bluetooth). There are several nice features: 1. The voice prompts allow you to understand what the device is doing 2. You can connect two devices at the same time 3. There's a volume setting on the unit itself in case your earbuds don't have volume 4. The display is pretty intuitive 5. There's input for optical and standard audio 6. There's very little delay because of the APTX so you can use it to watch television and have the lip movements line up. Overall, this is is a nicely designed unit with lots of bells and whistles. Then, after three months, it started to act badly. It would not reconnect with my earbuds (same one's I've been using since I bought the unit) unless I power cycled the device on a daily basis (no big deal, I simply plugged it into the USB on the TV which provided switched power. I contacted AVANTREE support and they were not very helpful. Their solution is to require me to send the unit back and wait a week or more while they test it. I asked if they could simply send another unit or some form of substitute unit in it's place while they did their test and they declined. Really poor customer service. I'm now waiting for them to send me a shipping label so I can package up the unit and send it back to the mothership. Pros: - Lots of nice features - APTX for TV watching Cons: - Suspect reliability - Unfriendly and inefficient customer service Recommendation: While this is a technologically superior unit to may of the bluetooth transmitters out there, at this point I would not recommend this given the spotty reliability and mediocre customer support. ------------------------------------------------------- 2/6/2020 - UPDATE - Avantree did, indeed, send a shipping label, and I sent the defective unit back and 6 days later I received a new unit. Avantree support continued to follow up with me to insure this fixed the problem. I have raised from 1 star to 3 stars because of this. Here's what would have made this a 5-star interaction -- instead of requiring me to send the defective unit back and wait for a replacement (and struggling with an old Avantree bluetooth unit that barely worked in the interim), Avantree should have immediately sent out a new unit with a prepaid label to return the defective unit. This would have allowed me to continue using the defective unit until the new one arrived. That's superior customer support and would have made up for the failure of the unit, showing that Avantree stood behind their product 100% and wanted to do everything necessary to make up for the failure. The way it was handled, requiring the consumer to ship the unit back first is not optimal.

Very quick and professional technical support
I was unable to connect my Avantree Oasis Plus 2 device to my TV and headphones. I watched the Avantree installation guide on YouTube 3 without success. I contacted Support and was connected to Riza. Being somewhat inept technically, I could not follow her chat instructions properly. She called me, and with five minutes I was able to listen to a program via my headphones at one volume level, and the TV played with a different volume level. Riza was extremely patient with me and provided very clear instructions that I could easily follow. Great product and even greater support.
