A real mess
The plates have two different types but they looks the same and are packaged together so you spend and hour trying to find the front and back plate for each joint. That just a one time unnecessary inconvenience but I found that the plates were not all machined precise enough or the ball joints aren’t so I have several joints that are too tight on one end and too loose on the other. For the price of this, it’s inexcusable

Unleash Your Creativity with the Kihomi Stop Motion Armature Kit
The Kihomi Studio Stop Motion Armature Kit is an excellent choice for anyone diving into the world of stop-motion animation. This kit includes everything you need to create your own metal puppet figures, with a focus on easy assembly and robust construction. The metal skeletons are sturdy and provide great flexibility for a range of motions, making it easy to bring your characters to life. The feet tie-down feature is particularly useful, ensuring your figures remain stable during shooting. The assembly process is straightforward, even for beginners, and the components fit together well without any hassle. One of the standout features is the versatility of this kit. Whether you are an amateur enthusiast or a more experienced animator, the Kihomi armature kit offers the tools you need to create professional-quality animations. The 7.4-inch size is perfect for detailed work without being too cumbersome. While it’s nearly perfect, I did find that some of the smaller screws and bolts can be a bit tricky to handle and might require a bit of patience. However, this is a minor inconvenience considering the overall quality and functionality of the kit. Overall, the Kihomi Studio Stop Motion Armature Kit is a fantastic investment for anyone passionate about animation and character design. It's a creative tool that offers both fun and functionality, making it a great addition to any animator's toolkit.

Excellent armature tool for sculpting
I do a lot of sculpting, but I've never tried stop motion sculpting before, and I figured this armature might be a fun tool to try that. So far it looks extremely promising. It did need to be assembled, but that was actually quite easy to do despite the small pieces. The instructions said that you needed to glue the balls onto the threaded bars before assembling, but that part was already done, so you actually only have to connect the sections. I especially like that the kit also includes several spare parts and that the feet have screw holes to attach the figure to a base if you're attempting an unusual pose, though it stands just fine on its own in normal standing/walking poses. I also like that it can be used as an armature within clay or as a posing reference guide to create a separate fixed wire armature. I haven't finished a full clay sculpture using this yet, but I'm including photos of the armature itself in a couple of different poses along with a project that I just started. Based on my experience so far, I would definitely recommend this armature kit!

Fantastic for stop motion and just fun
Great for stop-motion! This armature kit is also just plain fun and has so many uses. It is made of quality hardware and has smooth joints, good proportions, and overall size. If you like models, creating, figures, photography, or just about any purpose this is just plain fun to put together and use.

Sweet little rig!
I've wanted a little stop-motion rig for a long time, and they're usually super expensive. Sure, you can get some bits and make one on your own - but this pre-arranged set of parts is great. They come disassembled, but this includes a little wrench to put everything together. The instructions are a LITTLE unclear when it comes to specific lengths for some of these screw-in 'bars', but with the powers of observation, this isn't really a problem. The joints are as tight as you want them to be, and until I start animating, this is going to be a great little model to plot out positioning for drawings of characters - so much better and more dynamic than a wooden dummy. This is a bit bigger than 6" scale, as pictured. Can you go to the hardware store and try to figure this out yourself? MAYBE, but the convenience here is sweet, and I love having this around.

okay i guess; total chore to assemble
Kihomi Studio Stop Motion Armature Kit - Feet Tie Down DIY Metal Puppet Figure Skeletons Easy Assembly for Animation Character Design & Creative Fun, Perfect for Stop Motion Animation (Silver, 7.4in) been looking at these for years. finally pulled the trigger. i was shocked when it arrived as akit and not an assembled figure. i guess i thought for the asking, it would arrive assembled. it most certainly does not. and it is a kit of very little parts. the ball joint clamps have a threaded side and a thru hole side. these look the same. i needed magnifying glasses to negotiate this build. once assembled it makes me happy to play with it. i think i will add some tape or saran wrap and start adding some clay. assembled it is very cool. but getting these is no small task. that said, if one is actually considering stop motion, having the patience of a saint is going to be necessary so maybe this is the first lesson. also, most of the figure is magnetic so that is also useful.
