This seems to be the best tape for storing moving boxes. Even the extreme hold Scotch curls up and comes off if the humidity is about 40% or higher. The extreme (blue label) is also obnoxiously loud to apply, which seems funny, until you build boxes in a closet. It hurts your ears. This isn't annoying loud like that. 1st world problem, but it's a thing. This does have a funny smell to it, like hot electronics, but that goes away quickly. Good stuff, great price!

Been using this brand for a while for shipments and I love it. The tape is strong and very forgiving is you mess up. A bit pricey here but you can get it a lot cheaper at Costco.

I recently came upon a few boxes I had put into storage several years back and it was easily visible which boxes were sealed with the cheap office supply store brand vs. Scotch Long Lasting Moving & Storage Packaging Tape. The generic / store brand tape was dried up, crumbling and in many cases brittle to the touch. The boxes opened up from the bottom when they were picked up spilling their contents which were now dusty and required cleaning. I was quite surprised when I realized the boxes that were sealed with LLM&S tape were movable without issue and the tape itself showed little to no discoloration, an easy indicator that the adhesive had not corroded away. Upon opening these boxes, everything was tidy just the way it was when it was packed away. I was already sold on the tape after having moved twice and breaking several plates when a box sealed by cheap tape opened up causing quite a stir at the residence I was just moving into. Quite loud and embarrassing! None of the boxes sealed with LLM&S tape had any issue. I also use LLM&S tape for shipping items I've sold online and have never had a problem. If the tape doesn't stick properly to cardboard that is fuzzy (due to a label being torn off), use your fingernails and draw crisscross lines to help the adhesive to stick first, then slide your palm against it for the final seal. I must say I was surprisingly impressed by this tape - first, I will simply trust that is will last (some other tapes I've used, all cheap ones, and many brand name ones, don't last - the adhesive dries up and either turns to powder and lets go, or turns hard and lets go, even while still on an unused roll that has sat for a year), but that aside, this tape is *thick* and feels really solid compared to most tapes that are ultra thin, which also makes it extra easy to pull off a roll or use in a dispenser without it flopping all over and sticking onto itself or the dispenser. It is crystal clear which is very nice too. This will be my go-to tape from now on, even if I don't need the long-lasting aspect - I'm hoping the long-lasting aspect means the rolls will stay good even if not used for a year. As for cheap, no-name tapes I've tried over the years, I always want to find a bargain, but they all, every one, have been pure junk, with them seeming great when first purchased and applied, but then quickly becoming unstuck, being unable to peel it off the roll after it sits a while, or the tape warping on the roll, the adhesive becoming dry and hard or powdery or a sticky mess that is unusable, etc. I highly recommend this tape, all worth it even for short-term and regular use.
