I am an engineer by training and I therefore appreciate excellent design, and quality manufacturing. These scissors represent the best of both those worlds. The design is the best I've ever seen in my life (I'm 69 years old), and the manufacturing quality represents the pinnacle of what is possible. Even before you cut with these, just opening and closing the handles is ... what's the right word ... thrilling. Yes, the action is so smooth from end-to-end, and there is absolutely no grind or grittiness that I found myself just wanting to sit there opening and closing the scissors just to experience the marvel of something so smooth and so perfect. A comparison is my 1958 Leica M3 rangefinder camera. When you wind it and then press the button the precision of the engineering and manufacturing can be felt and heard. Same thing here. That camera is still worth almost $5,000 on eBay. These are a mere $100 (depending on which length you get). As for cutting, it goes without saying that I've never experienced such smooth, precise cuts, but one of the best parts is that the precision extends right out to the tip of the scissors. With cheaper brands, they may start the cut without a problem, but when you get to the tip of the scissors the blades will separate slightly and it will fail to cut cleanly, especially with thin paper. That doesn't happen with these scissors. So, if quality turns you on, and you want the best scissors in this world, buy these.

These are professional dressmaking scissors that are very sharp and accurate. They fit nicely in the hand and function well and are easy to use. Kai puts out a very good product. I have several of the very small scissors that have stayed sharp over the years. I highly recommend these scissors for home use or the professional.

Looking to replace my old Gingher scissors I was drawn to the Kai brand as it is one of those favored in sewing circles. The 7000 series seemed to offer what I was looking for and after some back and forth I chose this #7230. The scissors are substantial and I wouldn't want anything bigger/heavier but these look like they'd be able to handle any cutting needs I would have. The blades are sharp and the construction is precise.
