Very happy with the product.
Too soon to say whether its cleaning inside as it suggests 4 oil changes to show the effect. But the oil definitely made the engine noticeably quieter, smoother, and reduced the fluctuating revs I had due to the sludge (which I am hoping to clean by this oil). So its definitely effective in getting control of the internal lubrication requirements.

Restore & Protect really does what the name promises I picked up Valvoline Restore & Protect Full Synthetic 0W-20 as part of my regular oil change routine, and after running it for a bit, I’m genuinely impressed. This oil pours cleanly, doesn’t feel overly thin or watery, and immediately gave me a smoother, quieter startup compared to the oil I drained out. Cold starts are noticeably calmer, and the engine just feels happier overall. What stood out to me most is how smooth things feel after a few hundred miles. Throttle response feels more consistent, idle is steadier, and there’s a subtle reduction in engine noise that you don’t always get from standard full synthetics. I’m not expecting miracles from motor oil alone, but this one clearly seems to be doing something beneficial internally. I also like that this is aimed at both newer engines and higher-mileage vehicles. It gives peace of mind knowing it’s designed to actively clean deposits over time while still meeting all the modern specs for today’s engines. I paired it with a quality oil filter and have had zero issues with oil consumption or leaks. Things to keep in mind: this is a bit more expensive than basic full synthetics when not on sale, so it may not be necessary if you’re already running a very clean, low-mileage engine. Also, the “restore” benefits are meant to happen over multiple oil changes, not instantly. Bottom line: A high-quality full synthetic that delivers smooth performance, quieter operation, and long-term engine cleanliness. Well worth it if you want extra protection and plan to keep your vehicle for the long haul.

This oil does exactly what Valvoline says it does. Ring packs slowly become cleansed of carbon and the rings finally loosen up and operate as designed thus greatly reducing oil consumption. After using this oil for two cycles I switched to a more expensive syn oil and found that I lost fuel efficiency and general drivability. So I switched back to VRP and my Infiniti FX45 is running like a Swiss watch with improved mpg. VRP might just be the greatest engine oil ever formulated. I truly believe Valvoline should establish this oil formula as their base-line product and build upon it.

There has been a lot of hype around this oil. On the surface it would be easy to dismiss that as a media campaign or something... At the end of the day there are some good hard facts out there, and you can watch a million YouTube videos of before/afters. I've now been running this oil in three vehicles, one under 100k miles, one at +130k, and one at +165k. I have seen value to paying a tiny bit more for this oil, and think it offers great value for the money. For the high mileage cars: We did a road trip in our 165,000 mile Mazda 3 and averaged right at 39.9mpg across multiple fill ups. That is great mileage for that car. The oil change was dirty, something I took as an indication that the "restore" properties were working to reduce old deposits. For our 130,000 mile car, due to lack of driving the vehicle I did an 11 month interval (way longer than I planned for the first round of R&P). The longevity of the oil for that interval was fine, I am not surprised as synthetics tend to easily last over a year interval if needed. That said, that car has become noticeably smoother at idle. I will be the first to admit that is subjective, but it's an older car with a noticeable tick. Throtlebody cleaning, some fuel injector cleaner, and this oil were all run through in the last 3k miles, so there was a lot at play. Long story short, the cost difference between this and the high quality oils I tend to use is minimal and I believe (especially for high mileage cars) there are results to be had.

I’ve been using Valvoline SAE 0W-20 full synthetic motor oil for a while now, and it’s been nothing but smooth. 🚗✨ The quality is top-notch—engine runs clean, quiet, and efficient. 🛠️⚙️ No issues at all. 👍😊 It’s a product I trust and will keep using for regular maintenance. 💯✅

The reviews are true. I've been using this oil for about 3 oil changes now and I have a noticeable reduction in oil burning per interval compared to when I was running Pensoil Platinum which burned the most though supposedly also top tier oil. These are the only 3 brands of oils I've used since my ownership of the car I currently drive 2017 Elantra SE 70k miles put on during my ownership Pensoil Platinum was burning 1+qt for 6k miles (switched after 2 cycles 1qt+ per interval was more than ideal) Castrol edge was slightly less 3/4 qt for 6k miles (used for majority of the time before switching to Valvoline R&P) Valvoline Restore & Protect 1/2 qt for 6k miles Will continue to use since I am seeing a clear benefit for the same price as other oils. Now as for engine cleanliness. I can't give my opinion on that since I've never had to take valve cover and oil pan off the car to compare before and after, but with reduction in oil-burn I'm sure it is doing something good.
