Perfect dish tray and dish drain!
I haven't had a wet counter since I bought this!I'm someone who prefers to do my dishes by hand- since I'm cooking for 2. I find it an enormous waste of resources to turn on my dishwasher for 2 dishes and a couple of pots and pans every night, and the thought of waiting to fill up the dishwasher (up to 4 days?) is just too icky! And so I end up with a small mountain of 'vessels' trying to dry on my counter each night. Before I purchased this drainboard, I had to wipe down the area under my old dish tray and rack without fail as there was always water collecting underneath. It wasn't going to flood my home or anything, but water stagnating on any surface gets slimy and gross and leaves hard to clean stains on granite, including darkening the stone. And then I came across this draining board. The size is perfect for my dish rack and every drop of water just rolls off it into my sink. My sink doesn't have a raised 'lip' around it, so that definitely helps. The quality is also great, so I don't think I'm going to have to replace this for many, many years to come!

This item was very difficult to find, but exactly fits the bill.
I have an Ikea dish drying rack behind my sink. I needed a drain board that would fit under it and drain forward. Sounds simple, but you'd be surprised ho difficult it is to find this exact configuration. I've been using it for several weeks now and it is perfectly satisfactory.

Works Well For Me
This board by Rubbermaid has gotten a few bad reviews online. One thing many people mention is that it's small and that it doesn't drain properly. It is a bit small- but if you're like me, and have a small sink you need a small board. Larger boards would direct water literally outside of my sink. I needed something small in order to direct the water right into my sink rather than all over my countertops. Rubbermaid has a few different sizes of drain boards, but this size worked ideal for me. I also purchased a matching dish drainer by Rubbermaid to use with it.It has a very low slope that directs the water from one edge to the sink. The remaining three edges are lined with a slightly upward curve to keep water from draining off of them. I've never had an issue with water being directed other than in my sink with this drain board. Many people have also said that the water doesn't drain 'enough' and that there is still water left standing. I noticed this too and simply placed two folded dish clothes underneath each of the back corners of my board. This elevated it enough that the water drains right off and nothing but a few drops are left behind.I suppose I was expecting more of a rubbery material to this board, but it's actually a hard plastic. This makes it very easy to clean. I can literally just wipe it once with a towel when I'm finished with dishes and it looks good as new. Very convenient. My only problem with the hard plastic is that it doesn't grip well to the countertops. My board seems to slide around easily- which means I have to adjust it if it moves off-center from my sink while I'm placing dishes atop it. Kind of a pain, but for the hygienic properties of the hard plastic it's worth the sacrifice to me. I would have liked to see rubber liners on the bottom of the board to help keep it in place. Perhaps on Rubbermaid's next model? But for now this works fine.Overall I'm happy with this board. It fits my small sink and the plastic is easy to clean. It drains efficiently enough and drains even better when you adjust the height in the back with a dish cloth underneath. My only drawback is that it doesn't stay in place well. Overall though, that's a small problem. And I'm actually really happy with the board. For the price I paid (around $8.00) I am thrilled with it.

More than 75% of water flows directly into sink. Excellently engineered and designed.
This is the first drain board I've ever seen that actually drains most water into the sink. Most of them just create puddles of water under the dish drainer that grow bacteria and dry into strange looking blobs worthy of a science project. But not this Rubbermaid Drain Board! I would estimate the slope of the board to be approximately 10 degrees. Stated another way, the board is exactly 1 1/8" off the counter on the high side and 0" off the counter on the low side. This design produces an adequate tilt to cause more than 75% of water (my estimate) to flow off the drainboard and into my sink. All that remains on the drain board are a few beads of water that evaporate in one hour or less. Maybe it's the Antimicrobial surface treatment - something in the design causes the water to bead up forcing even more water down the hill into the sink. It's rare that I get excited about something utilitarian like this. I'm a guy and an electronics geek. But this product is amazing, it really works!

Very Sturdy Drain Board
This is a replacement for a 10-year old version of the same drain board. These are so sturdy and nicely angled to actually drain into the sink. They're hard to find now, so I'm guessing Rubbermaid dropped the product. I will be sad when this one has to be retired. The vendor shipped promptly and minimized packing by hand cutting and folding a cardboard box to fit the drain board - nice to not have a ton of packing waste to recycle for a change.

Good product
Our first one served us well for more than ten years. The drain was still physically intact and working fine. However, we replaced it due to discoloration. In our area we have very hard water as a result of our water being sourced through limestone. Although we filter our water, the filtration does not remove all the hardness. The black drain gradually built up hard water stains, and no amount of vigorous nor frequent cleaning could eliminate the stains. We like the product so much, we bought another.
