Great. I changed out the soles and they are even better.
Love these. Have been looking for some shoes that don't make my tendons or knees hurt. I tend to overpronate.I have tried on many brands and styles. After I went to the Asics website and answered the few questions to determine the best ones for me.Narrowed it down to these and the Kayanos. The Kayanos were ok, but not as perfect as these. These felt great as soon as they were on. After a few weeks of wear, I determined that the insole was a bit narrow in the heel for my feet. There was a little pain on the inner side of my right heel. It occurred not as much during the wearing of the shoes, but for the rest of the day after wearing them.So today, I got out my old favorite shoes (New Balance Vazee) and took out that insole. The side by side of the two insoles showed me the old ones had a slightly wider and not as sturdy heel area. Popped the old insoles into the new Asics and there was much happiness and no more pain. I might eventually get some new insoles and see how that works. The might even be better. The fit of the shoes is great. The size is exactly what i expected. The colors of the green and orange are very bright. The tread in incredible. I got them for walking the dog as we tend to walk most offroading and thru grass/dirt. There was a bit of slippage on the first day of wearing when we walked off of damp grass to cement, but that didn't happen again. The tread does not pick up rocks and such like other shoes can. The shoe itself seems very well constructed. I imagine that I will wear down the tread from use on sidewalks before the rest of the shoe gets worn out.Walking through damp grass your toes and socks will get wet eventually. Not immediately, like some shoes I have that are more mesh in the front, but pretty soon. These don't look used as fast as others either. I guess with the color/fabric you can walk through dirt, just cut damp grass and dirt and (after they dry and get a brush off) they still look pretty new.

comfortable and sturdy
I've been wearing Kahana 8 for almost 3 months on an almost-daily basis. I am not a runner; I'm an overweight, middle-aged woman with plantar fasciitis and I wear them to work, for errands, and to chase my 2 (age 2 & 3) grandsons. Very comfortable and also sturdy. I previously thought the GT2000 was my "sole"mate but the last 2 pairs have split at my little toe after only a few months and I refuse to spend over $90 on a shoe that only lasts 3 months at best. I was ready to leave Asics until I ran across the Kahana 8 . It appears to be similar in support to the GT2000 (intended for moderate over-pronators) but built much sturdier. It's a slightly heavier shoe than GT2000 which is to be expected of something that has more to the upper than just stretch mesh, but not clunky or clumsy. It has plenty of room in the toe box with a snug, well-fitted heel. The shoe feels roomy but not sloppy. Comfortable cushioning without feeling mushy. I normally wear a 6 1/2 so, as with my previous Asics, I bought a 7 and the fit is correct. The fit and comfort is great. So far they're holding up well. If they last a reasonable length of time I will certainly repurchase. I'll update my review if they disappoint me in the next few months, but so far so good.

Comfortable and supportive trail shoe
I bought these trail runners for a 10 day trip to Yellowstone after trying 10 different pairs of low hikers from various well known brands none of which fit right. I was attempting to replace a 10 year old pair of Merrill’s that no longer provided the right amount of support and traction. We mostly hike short 2 to 5 mile hikes. I was slightly concerned about wearing a brand new shoe for a trip with out breaking them in. I was nervous at first because they seemed very stiff when I first put them on, but once I spent some time getting the laces adjusted properly, they turned out to be a great choice. They were supportive and protective but light weight and my feet were still happy at the end of a 10 to 12 hour day of walking and hiking in them. I was able to scramble up rocky trails without any pain when I stepped on a jagged rock and had no turned ankles or other issues. They have good traction on slippery rocks and downhill trails. I would highly recommend them and the price is an added bonus.

Slippery when wet but awesome for dry running and comfort during a half marathon!!!
Would be 5 stars but is slippery on any kind of wet floor... Got these because non of my Nikes were comfortable enough to run a half marathon... While training I switched it up an wore these... I'm slightly flat footed so it was amazing to feel this kind of arch support an I felt support in the back above the heel... No blisters...on a treadmill great... Prepping on track they were good... Side walks and street running they were awesome... SIDEWALKS & GRAVEL Asphalt= slippery??? Idk why... Sidewalk was wet from a sprinkler an I felt it slippery not too much where I fell but that's only because I read the review after so I watched out to catch myself...again on the street from someone's water runoff... So this means no using them during rain season or near water sports or hiking which reaaaallllly sucks but I live in Las Vegas so rain is rare no and it didn't rain during the half marathon... I usually wear 6 1/2-7, in boots I get a 7... If people say shoes run small I get a 7... A got a 7 an they fit great...

Stability shoe Wide toe box, replaces narrow Kayano
I used to wear Asics Gel Kayano, but a few years back Asics restructured the shoe, giving it a very narrow toe box. I have had so much problems finding a stability shoe that had a good wide toe box...until now! The Asics Kahana is perfect. Stability shoe, really holds the heel nicely, without being over tight. Nice wide toe box and fits true to size. I am so happy to finally find the right model and my plantar faciitis is feeling better after only about a week of having the correct support shoe (with Super Feet inserts, too!) Oh,and by the way,I am very very happy with the price of this shoe. I was prepared to spend $200 on the shoe (like the gel kayano costs) but this one is 1/3 of the price. I was skeptical to try because of the price, but thought I don't have anything to lose...so glad I have these shoes a shot. My feet are happy again. Nice! Here's to hoping Asics does not change a thing with the Gel Kahana!!!
