OEM Battery For 2006 Suzuki DRZ400SM
OEM battery purchased here is a better value than the local franchise dealer. Plus, since it is shipped to you dry, you get to be the one who fills and charges it. This way, you know for sure that all of the electrolyte was installed. Plus, you know that the battery was charged with the right amp charger and for the proper duration. Once these batteries are charged, all of the electrolyte is absorbed into the mats. So if you were to remove the fill strip and look inside the battery, you wouldn't know if it had been filled correctly because you can't see the electrolyte. It is important for longevity of the battery that you use a battery tender/charger on a regular basis when your motorcycle sits for periods of time without being ridden. Maintaining the charge in your battery is the difference between getting only one season out of it versus 3 or maybe 4 seasons. Also, while this battery has a Japanese sounding name, it is made in the U.S.A. The next time I need another motorcycle battery, I'll shop here again.

Good Battery
Starting my second year using this battery on my DRZ400. Good battery so far (NOTE: over the winter, I removed it from the bike and keept it indoors and on a trickle charger).

It works, hasn't given me any problems.
I've been through 3 batteries in my '01 Suzuki DRZ-400S, I usually seem to get about 6 months to a year out of them. I thought a cheap battery would be fine, but the TMS battery that fits the drz wouldnt even crank the motor over, pre filled and pre charged. put it on a battery tender overnight, nothing. left it for a few more days on the tender, still nothing. got sick of waiting, bought this battery at approx double the price of the $30 TMS battery. got it, filled it, charged it, installed it, bike has started every time, cranks fast, holds a charge good, what more is there to say? buy this battery if you're having issues with your bike starting. I thought about going the Ballistic Li-ion way, but i can buy nearly 4 of these for the cost of a li-ion battery. lithium ion batterys have a shelf life of about 10 years, so if it doesn't go bad before then, it will be shot after 10 years, i figure hopefully i can get 2 years of riding out of this yuasa battery, so i'd nearly break even with li-ion cells, with a much smaller upfront cost.

Good battery
These batteries are great. My only complaint was that It said no charge was needed but I had to do a trickle charge over night before it would work.

Replaced my battery on my DRZ400S. Directions were simple, and I don't have any worries or concerns. Hopefully this battery lasts for years.

Great discount but is it a fake?
I know about batteries and since this one is on my 1199 bike, it has to perform. Just under 2 years ago I got one of these, it is ridden often, its on a hi-tek tender that never overcharges. But it totally died almost overnight, worked one week, completely dead the next. It has a 2V terminal voltage and will not take any charge. I'll probably cut it open to see what happened, I questioned at the time why it was $30 cheaper than anybody else, but went ahead. Now I am looking more closely, it does not have the manufactured in Taiwan and slight differences from stock battery pictures. Normally this type of battery lasts me 4-5 years and fails through loosing capacity, never a complete failure. If this had happened on the road, it would have been a tow home since it will not even hold any charge. I have decided to stay away this time and buy from a certified dealer.

WHY BUY YUASA
So why do I buy Yuasa batteries for my motorcycles and atv's? well it's simple, they last. These batteries DON'T come premixed meaning when you get it you need to pour the battery acid in the battery... because of this you know the battery wasn't sitting premixed by the factory on the shelf for years so you know it's new. Cheaper batteries come premixed from the factory and you never know how long it was premixed prior to your purchase. Also for those non technical people, mixing the battery is super simple. Simply take off the red tape off the battery (discard the red tape). Take off the black 6 cap system off the clear acid container (DO NOT DISCARD THAT BLACK STRIP, YOU'LL NEED IT). Take the clear battery acid container and just line it up with the battery holes and press down evenly until you see the acid flow into the battery. Wait 20 minutes, tap the clear acid container to make sure all of it entered the battery. Remove the clear now empty battery acid container, put the black 6 cap strip on to the battery, gently tap with a rubber hammer or the back of screw driver to make sure it's flush and even with the battery. (you'll never need to remove this again so make sure it's on there right). That's it... enjoy!
