Best Iron I've Ever Had
Years ago I asked my mother, a wonderful 'sewist' and her mother (my grandmother) was a seamstress-turned-tailor, what kind of clothing iron I should get. She said Rowenta. I'd never heard of it but spent the money and will never buy another brand of iron again. A quarter century later, my older Rowenta is still working but I wanted an upgrade, so I bought this during a Prime sale. What a wonderful new iron! Very easy to use: just add water to the tank, turn the dial, and iron. The heat levels are more precise, and the features are about the same as my previous Rowenta. What I really love about this new iron is the taper-pointed tip - it gets into those smaller folds and spaces where regular irons tend to stay on top of and eliminates wrinkles more efficiently. When I opened the box I was surprised at the larger size but it actually weighs LESS than my former iron. Easy on my wrists and my arm doesn't get fatigued when ironing while sewing clothing (which takes a LOT of ironing). My photograph is of the first shirt I ironed - it took only a little over a minute to iron the entire shirt, collar and all. Great value for the money, especially when Prime season comes. Rowenta for the win!

You will want to iron just so you can use this baby
I had no idea what a good iron was until I spent a little money and purchased this. It is so great! It heats up super fast, irons incredibly well (I appreciate the weight so I don't have to press down too hard), doesn't get goopy (somehow, my old iron always got goop on it, which was a concern every time I had to use it due to the transfer concern), and shuts off automatically so you don't burn the house down. The steam function is fantastic -- no drippy water, just the right amount. Also, it looks really sleek -- like a serious piece of equipment. That's a minor point but these things are designed, and I appreciate the effort that was put into this one. I will leave it up to other reviewers to give a more in-depth analysis -- just wanted to put in my two cents based on decades of reluctant ironing until now.

Nice iron!
In my opinion this iron is not heavy as some reviews stated. I absolutely love it! Plug it in and you will be ironing in no time. It glides smoothly over the fabric. I did accidentally melt the collar on one of my blouses, I underestimated how quickly this iron would heat up. This is without a doubt the best iron i have ever owned. I think nothing looks worse than someone wearing wrinkled clothing. If one has a decent iron it only takes a few minutes to make your clothes look nice. I have been living on my own for almost 50 years, so I have owned several irons. I love the retractable cord! Makes storage a breeze. The weight of the iron is sufficient to decrease the effort required to get wrinkles out. I do wish the water reservoir was a bit larger, but that is not a deal breaker for me. The temperature adjustment is in an awkward place which makes it a bit difficult to read. I do recommend that you use a pressing cloth if working with delicate fabric as i melted the collar on a synthetic blouse. Overall i am extremely pleased with my purchase!

Overall, an excellent appliance
Rowenta DW2459 Overall, I find this iron to be a pleasure to use. Its substantial weight and ergo-dynamic design allow for smooth forward, backward, and side to side motion for quick and effortless ironing. Strengths - The cord is the perfect weight with quality rubber covering that does not snag as it drags over fabric as do other irons. - The cord rewind has strong tension with a convenient push button activator at the base of the handle. - The thermostat knob is smooth and sturdy with a quality feel. - I have not yet used the steam function for upright garment steaming so I can’t address that option. - The spray button is conveniently located next to the steam button at the head of the handle and has a quality feel and slow, cushioned recoil. The spray nozzle at the tip of the iron sprays a uniform and steady mist with minimal oversized drops. - The spray coverage area is substantial and if the user gets a feel for swiping left and right while spraying, the iron becomes even more effective with coverage. - The handle is comfortable with a well-designed shape and angle. - The soul plate has efficient coverage area with a narrow tip that fits well under overlays. - The iron has a comfortable weight that works well to effortlessly iron out wrinkles without much if any additional pressure. - This model comes with an auto off safety feature that switches the iron off if left on the soleplate motionless for 30 seconds or if left on its heel untouched for 8 minutes. A red light at the top of the handle just below the steam and spray buttons indicates whether or not the iron is on, while an amber light on the left side of the base of the handle shuts off when the iron has not been used but turns back on once you move the iron, indicating that the soleplate will now reheat. - The heel of the iron is wide and stable. - The soleplate cools remarkably quickly after turning the iron off. Suggestions - The soleplate scratches easily; after the first use a number of scratches appeared at the tip, the center, and a small area in between that could only have been caused by knots of thread on the underside of buttons; the soleplate did not contact buttons or zippers. - The owners manual that comes with this model shows the icons reversed for release valve steam/spray slide from what actually is displayed on the iron; a more generic Rowenta iron instruction guide downloaded for comparison displays the same reversed configuration. - The instructions note that the release valve pin attached to the steam/spray slide is not replaceable if damaged. This should be a replacement part. - The instruction guide directs the user to release the steam lever valve pin to the self clean position and keep it in the raised position for self cleaning; this position is unclear in the diagram as it shows the user holding the pin instead of it being in a locked position. - To reduce having to use the anti-calc feature for my extremely hard water, I just use spring water.

Horrible Iron
I've never purchased a Rowenta product before, but this iron seemed like a great iron and had good reviews. However, I'm extremely disappointed in this product. It's not even 2 months old and it's making a loud clanking noise every minute or so. It's so loud, I jump whenever it happens. Also, this iron gets way too hot, even on a low setting and has already damaged a bunch of my clothes. As soon as the iron touched the clothes, they instantly melted! They were not repairable at all and I had to throw them out! Also, the iron kept steaming, even though I had the steam switch set to off and the thermostat dial set all the way down to delicate and displaying the NO STEAM icon. It was very dangerous and would blast a forceful gust of steam right in my face while I was in the middle of ironing. It would scare the heck out of me! And then it ruined my delicate blouse that I was trying to gently iron. Steam should NOT have been coming out when I had the steam feature set to off and the thermostat dial all the way down to delicate. Even if I did have the steam feature on, it should not just randomly explode out of the iron so violently and forcefully! This is definitely a safety issue and dangerous to operate. Then, when I contacted Amazon Customer Support, because they were the Seller, they were going to charge me a 45% restocking fee because it was just past the return period, which is ludicrous! I registered this product, as soon as I received it, and it's covered under the manufacturer's warranty, but I've contacted them twice already and have yet to hear from them. This is just the worst experience with a product that I've ever endured. I am not confident in the Rowenta brand and will not buy this brand again! My last iron lasted 15 years and worked great until the last die, when it just died, and had to be replaced. Thus, my reason to purchase this Rowenta iron. I did hours of research and thought this would be a good iron, but it is not!

It doesn't get any better
I purchased the Rowenta DW2459 1725 watt Steam Iron black and brown. I’m an old geezer. I’ve done a little ironing in my time . I also own a steam press and a nice hand held steamer and used to have a stand alone pro steamer. I recently purchased a Van Husen “Wrinkle Free” shirt that has really been a challenge. After washing, it had a zillion wrinkles. My Steamer wouldn’t touch it. The shirt laughed at the Steam Press. I got out my old Sunbeam iron and it had given up the ghost. So after taking almost a whole day researching “pro” irons I settled on this Rowenta DW2459. It has all the same features of their top of the line models but this particular one is Made in France and still has the Shiny SS sole plate which many reviewers say they miss since the new top model Rowenta’s have a dull looking SS sole plate that does not glide over the fabric as easily. I’ve never used an iron this nice before. I knocked out that challenging wrinkled up shirt in no time. I was amazed at how easily the iron glides over the fabric. The steam output is even and just the right amount. So far I’ve not had to use the extra steam burst feature. The iron heats up really fast and the auto steam feature is perfect. On some irons after you sit them down to arrange your garment on the board there is a lag for the steam to catch up when you pick it up again. Not so with this Rowenta. It is bit heavier than most economical irons but for the most part that is a good thing since you don’t have to go over and over the same area. Once you sit it on the fabric it glides very easily over the fabric. It only takes one or two passes and the wrinkles are gone. It really speeds up your ironing time. It’s fairly easy to fill up with water and is made to use standard tap water. I hope this thing lasts because I’m very pleased with it. Now ironing is not as much of a chore as it used to be.

I love it!
This is my number 1 iron product. The steam power is strong and smooths out the wrinkles quickly, it is easy to use, cordless, that I love it. Pretty good size. I really love Rowenta iron.
