I bought these for a trip to Mt. Hood in December. They worked very well on packed snow. I returned to Alaska last week to a mid-winter thaw. Today I walked over a mile on rainwater covered ice and didn’t slip once. The walking pole I was using slipped on the ice several times, but not my feet. Of course you have to adjust your stride to the conditions. I would recommend putting them on your boots before putting your boots on. That way you can position the grips over the proper areas of your boots and adjust tension if necessary. I don’t know about durability, but so far, so good. Also, as with any grippers, take them off before going into your house or stores. Even on concrete you have to walk very gingerly.
