Canon RF50mm F1.4 L VCM

Incredibly light, great for photo and video, incredible image quality and focuses instantly. Love the lens for portraits and general use. Can even be used for fast subjects like kids and dogs because the auto focus is the fastest I've ever seen.

I'm very impressed with this lens. I've been doing photography for 25+ years and shot professionally for many years. I've been looking for some upgrades to some of my most beloved EF lenses and this has been a huge win. The sharpness is stunning even wide open, the bokeh quality is very smooth and pleading, and the auto focus is incredible paired with the R5. I'm a firm believer that even the most perfect lens on paper doesnt always translate to the most pleasing photos, and certain lenses have inexplicable qualities. I find this lens to be excellent in paper but also very pleasing. I have zero complaints

Incredibly fast and sharp. I can’t even hear it or feel it focusing which is a huge update coming from the old ef line

Doesn't quite match the 50mm f/1.2 in image quality, but the difference is not a deal breaker for me. The VCM focus instantly and is very quiet, but not completely silent. $1,000 less and is not a tank to carry around. Except for the slight difference in image quality, this is what the f/1.2 should've been.There are many photographers that prefers the f/1.2 own unique image quality. That's fine if you're willing to put up with the extra weight, loud motor, and an extra $1,000.

Good, sharp lens with minimal focus breathing. I won’t give it 5 stars though because of the reliance on a lens profile to correct distortion and vignetting, especially at that price. The optical formula should be better corrected.
