The track can be set up in a variety of ways but the dimensions of the set-up shown here are approximately 4 feet wide and 8 feet long.

How many times can the controller recharge the car on a set of batteries? Can lithium batteries be used on the controller and be recharged?

Each charge lasts a long time and I haven't had to replace batteries yet. I've recharged them 20 or 30 times. You would have to direct the lithium replacement question to the manufacturer.

how much play time before the batteries have to be recharged? Also the recharge process in the description doesn't make sense?

The battery powered controller is the source of the power to recharge the car battery - you plug the car into the controller to recharge it. It recharges in about 20 minutes and runs for 15 to 20 minutes at full speed (longer at variable speed) between charging.

How many car recharges can you get from the controller before those batteries go dead as well? Can you use rechargeable batteries for the controller?

Yes, you can use rechargeable batteries in the controller. Just please be sure not to mix rechargeable batteries and alkaline batteries in the controller at one time. With a fresh set of alkaline batteries you can get 15 - 18 car charging cycles before having to replace them.
