AVAccess support is quick to respond,
Although Initial bench test failed to link both units over a 60m cat 7 new cable, contacted av access support, Johnny advised updating firmware and supplied a link, unit updated and retested, first attempt still no link , reversed cable connections and units connected successfully, unplugged and replugged several times and link established perfectly each time, cable has since been installed underground and units reconnected with no problems, possible pin in receiver or cable slightly misaligned caused poor connection,

Works great!
I don't normally write reviews, but this time - I'm going to. I have a small home audio studio and am a sound engineer for small local live bands and needed to multi-track record live audio from the band on stage which engineer from an off stage location and the audio interface was USB. This USB 2.0 extender works absolutely flawlessly with no install required and coped perfectly with 24 tracks of audio with zero latency over 20m cat5e cable. Am really happy with this item and can recommend highly.

Less faff with minor issues
I’m forever lugging leads between the box room upstairs and the bench in the garage, so the chance to push a full-fat USB signal down a spare network cable sounded ideal. The package holds two dinky aluminium bricks, labelled TX and RX. Link them with a single Cat-6a or Cat-7 run of up to about a hundred metres. The transmitter plugs into the computer over USB-C, while the receiver offers four blue USB-A 3.2 ports rated at 5 Gbps, one of which will cough up 1.5 A for power-hungry bits of kit. I hooked up a 4K webcam, an external SSD and a MIDI keyboard. Each one behaved as if it were still jammed straight into the tower, no drivers to chase, no fiddling. Because the pair uses power over cable, only the remote unit needs the little 12 V wall-wart, so the wiring stays tidy. There are a few niggles. On first power-up nothing happened until I ran a firmware patch that support emailed across. The status LEDs are so faint that fault-finding in daylight is a nuisance, and the casings warm up more than I’d expect. All four ports share one 5 Gbps pipe, so hammering several drives at once drags transfer speeds down slightly. Even with those quirks, not having to juggle short leads every day feels wonderful. Solid build, reliable throughput and a cleaner desk make this extender a worthwhile addition to the workshop.

High quality units for seriously long high speed USB cable runs
This USB 3.2 extender from AV Access is a relatively niche device in today's wireless world, but there are still scenarios where wired USB devices are required and positioned some distance from a desktop PC. Not everyone will realise that modern fast USB connections are seriously limited in the what length of cable can be used, for instance 5Gbps is limited to a cable length of around 3m. Suddenly the potential to extend this to 100m using relatively cheap Cat6a ethernet cable seems rather impressive. The two included units are named transmitter and receiver, although as USB is a two way street they are both really transceivers. The 'Transmitter' is connected to the host PC and the 'Receiver' is a 4 port USB-A hub to which the client devices are connected. The transmitter can draw sufficient power from the host PC's USB-C port which makes for a tidy setup, but the receiver does require the included 12V power supply. Setup is very simple as it is essentially plug and play as if it were any old USB-C/A hub. Compatibility is pretty much universal and I had no issues using this with both Windows and MacOS. I tested these out with a few different USB devices including a high res security camera and the connection was just as fast and stable as it was when plugged directly into the computer. The picture and sound quality of the camera was still perfect. To test outright speed I also connected an external SSD. Helpfully the receiver unit can provide 1.5A to power such devices properly. Transfer rates are super fast, although it is worth noting that all the devices connected to the four USB-A ports have to share the 5Gbps bandwidth, which will probably only have any effect if connecting multiple data drives. If you need a high speed USB connection over a significant cable run you cannot argue with the capability of these units to allow for some impressive cable lengths. As with other AV Access products I have tried they are not cheap but priced commensurate with the high quality and functionality on offer.

I almost spent way too much on a competitor’s version before finding this one. After digging a little deeper, I saw that this extender actually supports a longer range and has a sturdy metal build—big plus. I’m using it to run multiple laser engravers about 30 feet from my computer, but I’m running them through a 50-foot Ethernet cable with zero issues. Everything works perfectly, including the laser with a built-in USB camera. No glitches, no hiccups, and being able to connect multiple devices at once is a major bonus. Solid performance and great value.
